thanks, problem solved, anyways i found out i cant load the partition as directory in bash shell. well at least now i can get a look at the different files. what i needed was the term cd=change directory. with df i did get to know the different directories. seems like i need to learn a lot of basic ...

problem solved

thanks to everybody who helped me solve this newbie problem. i made one primary partition sdb1 second partition i made was extended which was split in two logical devices home and swap i installed grub to sdb, not into one of the partitions, and well the start up worked! but the system crashed soon ...

ok: so please help me out

i got 2 partitions

/ (root)
and
/ home (for the rest)

i told the installer to put grub into the root partition isn´t that right??? do i have to put it elsewhere??
i don´t see anything like the MBR in the installer menu.

btw. just finished installing. restarted. same thing does not boot. hmm.
