Re: Dead key <dead_abovering>

Pressing a dead key twice usually prints the 'undead' character but not always (for example with layout-us double-quote yields ¨ instead of "). What always works is to press <space> after a dead key. If you want to switch more keys to their dead version, search inside /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/de f...

Re: Dead key <dead_abovering>

hi Ilu, I was diving into this question today... All possible keyboard models, layouts, variants and options are listed in /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/evdev.lst. Assuming for your situation you have some generic keyboard model, specifically need a german (de) layout, one would expect for your issue to ...

For now I do not see a reason to hold back the release of SolydK on this issue.

Re: (No) LibreOffice problem with AppArmor

bas_otten, your problem must have somehow resulted from your config. Last night I performed the same steps as you did: in a live SolydK session LO runs fine after doing a clean install LO runs fine after restoring my old homedir/profile, LO still runs fine after running my personal install+config s...

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

I found that the problem with starting Libreoffice is related to apparmor being enabled by default on buster. Many pages on the net suggest that the problem has already been resolved in the latest Apparmor version, but clearly in an up-to-date buster system the problem still exists. I followed this ...

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

Thanks for your answers! I can now indeed install and run Virtualbox and Phpmyadmin without problem, but I acknowlegde the considerations that @grizzler makes on Phpmyadmin. As for Regina-rexx, I downloaded and installed the deb's manually: since stretch and sid contain the same version, it will lik...

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

I did a fresh install of the nightly solydk_10_64_201908.iso (the one from aug 7th IIRC), and then ran my usual install and config scripts, to customize SolydK all the way to my liking. For this scenario, I so far, encounter the following issues, or at least things that draw attention: I miss the ab...

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

If I may drop a suggestion: I always wonder why gpsd is a service that is installed and running by default. It seems to me to be something relevant only for specific devices. It is always the first resource-comsumer I purge. But perhaps you guys have a different approach for the case?

Re: SolydXK 201902 released

Is it really as intended to have vi(m) not installed by default (on SolydK)? ;)

Code: Select all

root@bashost:/etc/apt #>>> vi sources.list
-su: vi: opdracht niet gevonden
(I have been absent from the forum for quite some time, sorry for not being involved in testing the latest release..)

Re: How to install skype relaese 8.27.0.85

I typically install Skype like this: sudo -i apt-get -y install apt-transport-https echo "deb [arch=amd64] https://repo.skype.com/deb stable main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list curl https://repo.skype.com/data/SKYPE-GPG-KEY | sudo apt-key add - apt-get update apt-get -y install skypeforlinux To try to re...

Re: Mysterius deletion of an .odt document - Recovery?

If you 'just' deleted the file from the Filemanager (as opposed to using rm from the commandline), please check the Trash first: your document might be easily recoverable from there. Edit: I see you used a Live session, so this is no option;-) If not, you could use the (preinstalled) 'testdisk' util...

Re: little joy

Older versions of Spotify, even appointed for Debian9, used to require the libssl-package from Debian8.
But with the more recent versions of Spotify, that requirement=limitation is finally gone!

Re: "Get new window decorations" stalls

I tried to reproduce your problem and fired up my ancient SolydK8 system in VB: correct, I have the same issue! I am sure I did not have this issue back in the days that SolydK8, based on Debian Jessie, was still current. I suspect these kinds of additional material are simply no longer available fo...

apt-transport-https by default

After doing a fresh installation of SolydK lately, it occurred to me that when you add an https-repository to sources.list and import the corresponding key, doing 'apt-get update' just keeps hanging as if there is a network failure or the repository is unavailable. The actual cause, however, is that...

Re: Kate loads on bootup

Perhaps for some reason Kate is autostarted with this desktop-file as parameter, instead that it is executed which is probably the intention.
Is there anything present in the KDE autostart directories? Assuming this is SolydK9, can you show the output of

Code: Select all

Re: Something is mounting stuff to /media

A normal user does have r-x permissions to his/her named subdirectory under /media by means of a user-specific (extended) ACL. On mounting external media, another subdirectory is created named after the label of the device and this mountpoint is set to be owned by the user. As an example, when I (ba...

Hi ilu, You did not bork your system, at least not in this regard ;) I compared my findings on K directly with a live session of X on VB: on X I get the same directions of java's stdout and stderr to ~/.xsession-errors as you do. Why that is, however, I cannot tell so far. You might take a look at h...

Re: Testing ISOs 201712

I've fixed KGpg in the solydk-system-adjustments packages and replaced Knotes with Gnote (I think they were most similar and had the least dependencies). Indeed, SolydXK System Settings doesn't have the same functionalities when running live. It would be unnecessary or even unsafe to use them. I al...
