I went to lightdm and strangely the username was correct but not what was displaying. So clicked "save" and then checked again and it was presenting correctly?? wierd???

But the username and password reqirement is not removable in lightdm

The lock on my front door doesnt work and the door is glass. But the 45cal 1911 behind the door does work.

But I dont need security on my computer. relying on anything found there could be very risky for the user.

How do I bypass the user name and password rquirement at OS boot.??

I am talking about the username and password that is asked for right after boot. First it has the wrong name offered for the username so I have to click on "other" and re-enter the username. Tried the update manager. It reported that some files were not found on the update manager and said it would proceed without them. It did but after the update I still have the banner across the top of Gmail that says Firefox is unsupported version.

OK.

When I first got Solydox I read that the update would be offered, but then you would be prompted to upgrade or refuse the upgrade. And since I never got such an invitation, I assumed there was NO update.

I will try it and report back. Thanks.
