Re: Can't update

Right off the bat...get rid of this line: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu xenial main DELETE and don't look back Never...ever use ubuntu ppa's in a Debian based system. You are just looking to hose your system for good. Looks like this link is no good either: deb http://reposito...

Nordvpn Indicator app

This is to Arjen, I've been a Nordvpn user for a couple of years...glad to see you are promoting it..... This is strictly a cosmetic issue....When I use openvpn your Nordvpn Indicator turns blue....however when is use Nordlynx the Nordvpn Indicator stays red. All functionality still works. Is it pos...

Whoa!!!!....settle down there little buckaroo"s....I was under the impression the was a discussion forum, a place to express one's idea's and/or suggestions.....I was in no way telling the 1 admin and his small support staff how to run their operation. I was merely expressing an opinion.....now I'm ...

Re: Fusión

I think joining MX is a great idea. #1 it will take a huge support load off of Arjen and his small support staff. #2 Mx is based on Debian and uses the Debian repo's in addition to the MX repos...which means the SolydXK repos could be incorporated also if the merge into MX were to happen. #3 The MX ...

Re: Freezing, Apt and SSH issues

Double check your Liquorix settings...you should be at Liquorix 5.2.0-4.1. I noticed a big change in my computer usage moving from the 5.1 kernel to the 5.2.2 kernel. It may not make any difference in your situation, but update your system and see if it does. From my past experience...a frozen syste...

Re: Firefox/waterfox and DNSSEC - what default to choose?

I get your point, what I do not understand is why anyone who is concerned with dns privacy would want to fiddle around with their browser, trying to have it use a separate dns resolver, and yet leave their entire system using their local providers dns server.....does not make sense to me......but wh...

Re: Firefox/waterfox and DNSSEC - what default to choose?

Vpn is off topic? You were concerned about dns resolution, I stated that is why you should be using a vpn (which have there own dns servers) and NO they are not all in the USA. the vpn I used is based in Panama so the US has no jurisdiction in Panama, and the provider keeps zero logs which means the...

Re: problem with gdebi (SolydX, ee)

I just checked and skype is available on Flatpak. It is ver 8.44.0.40 It is in the Flathub repository (which is the official Flatpak repository). I installed it via Flatpak on my system and it works just fine. I've also removed it from my system as I do not use skype.

Re: NordVPN Indicator

This is why I chose NordVPN as my vpn provider. They are based in Panama, so they are not accountable to the Five Eye countries. They keep no logs. I am not doing anything illegal, but I do not want the NSA,CIA, or Lord knows what other US Government agency spying/snooping on my Internet traffic. Ev...

Re: Ancestris Genealogy program

I stand corrected... My answer should have been....You shouldn't install Ubumtu specific programs in Debian. instead of .....You can't install Ubumtu specific programs in Debian I never...ever install any Ubuntu specific program on my Debian system. If the developer can't/won't make a Debian version...

Re: Ancestris Genealogy program

It is an Ubuntu program. You can't install Ubumtu specific programs in Debian, which solydxee is based on. Probably some dependencies that are not resolvable. Just a guess.....

Re: [Solved] How to install Libreoffice 6.1 from debian backports

Danielx, Glad to see you researched flatpak. It really is the future way to use/install software. Linux Mint LMDE 3 already has flatpak support in their Sotware Manager. Hopefully the SolydxK team will build support into SolydXK in the future. The SolydXK devs are really smart/sharp and I'm sure the...

Install LibreOffice using flatpak. You always get the latest version. Runs in a sandbox mode on your system.
