Re: Ancestris Genealogy program

I stand corrected... My answer should have been....You shouldn't install Ubumtu specific programs in Debian. instead of .....You can't install Ubumtu specific programs in Debian I never...ever install any Ubuntu specific program on my Debian system. If the developer can't/won't make a Debian version...

Re: Ancestris Genealogy program

It is an Ubuntu program. You can't install Ubumtu specific programs in Debian, which solydxee is based on. Probably some dependencies that are not resolvable. Just a guess.....

If you only have Windows on your pc download Rufus. That is the best program to create usbs with, but it is a Windows only program.

Re: [Solved] How to install Libreoffice 6.1 from debian backports

Re: [Solved] How to install Libreoffice 6.1 from debian backports

Danielx, Glad to see you researched flatpak. It really is the future way to use/install software. Linux Mint LMDE 3 already has flatpak support in their Sotware Manager. Hopefully the SolydxK team will build support into SolydXK in the future. The SolydXK devs are really smart/sharp and I'm sure the...

Install LibreOffice using flatpak. You always get the latest version. Runs in a sandbox mode on your system.

Re: [Solved] Create USB pendrive boot mode UEFI

Just wanted to follow up on this subject. What ilu said is technically correct. You do not need Etcher to make a bootable usb disk. If you like going thru 5 steps to make a bootable usb disk follow what ilu says and it will work. I on the other hand like to do things quickly. Etcher is a one step pr...

Re: Clone partitions with Gparted

Oopps, I just noticed in my reply that I stated sda4=150G on your original HD and new HD has a 100G partition, that won't work. My bad. New sda4 would have to be >=150G.

Re: Clone partitions with Gparted

One other thing, if you decide to use Clonezailla, download and install TuxBoot. It will download the latest stable version of Clonezilla and create a bootable USB for you. It works much much better than unetbootin.

Re: Clone partitions with Gparted

You could use Clonezilla to clone your original HD ,then restore the the image t your new HD, then use gparted to resize and/or move your partitions on your new HD. Better yet create on your new HD the partitions, creating them to the size you want and the location you want. Then use Clonezilla to r...

Re: Clone partitions with Gparted

Clonezilla will do what you need. It makes a complete image of your HD, and so long as your new HD is the same size or larger than the original, you can restore to the new disk. Clonezilla will recreate the partition table from your original disk during the backup. I've been using Clonezilla for the...

Re: Migrating server to Europe

I followed Ilu suggestion and read about the Cloud Act. The VPN I use is not based in the USA, but in Panama, where the US has no legal jurisdiction at all. Plus this company has a strict "no log" policy. This means if the US Gov were to somehow enforce a warrant on this company, they would say OK w...

Re: Migrating server to Europe

I'm in the United States and I agree with Ilu on this matter. Our government is slowly taking away our privacy rights while the EU is granting more privacy rights to it citizens. Very strange would we live in now. It is for this reason I use a VPN service and I would highly recommend anyone else wor...
