Re: HE to Jessie upgrade

With SolydK I had an issue because I had systemd starting from the kernel line in /etc/default/grub GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash init=/bin/systemd" and at the first boot the system hanged. After booting into an older kernel I edited /etc/default/grub and took out the systemd part. From t...

Re: SolydXK Conky

I have spent some time improving solydxk-conky but somehow I cannot get it to work as it should. It all starts fine but it stops updating after a while. It stays frozen for a long time and then start updating again, skipping seconds and freezes again after a while. Does anybody else have that too? ...

Re: HE to Jessie upgrade

Just ran those upgrades on my production SolydK and SolydX 64bit. With SolydK I had an issue because I had systemd starting from the kernel line in /etc/default/grub and at the first boot the system hanged. After booting into an older kernel I edited /etc/default/grub and off it went. Both systems a...

Dear zerozero
Thank you so much for all the the most interesting discursions about Solyd in particular and Linux in general. For me you are a reference in the linux world.

I wish you all the best.

Dear Schoelje

Thank you so much for this great distro.

Re: What does Solyd mean, really?

I fully agree and support fleabus: I never meant to imply that backporting and whatnot be up to the user. I was merely proposing an idea for a strategic move by the team to create a sort of "SuperStable" that might save the devs some time. Do away with the Testing base + quarterly UPs, base on Stabl...

@dirigible I love this kind of thread...someone from somewhere comes and through you a problem and says; "It's all your fault. I expect this to work with out even knowing if this is your fault or not and without even knowing what I want" 8-) Your computer is not installed as it should to work with U...

Re: Trouble installing SolydX-64 in UEFI-mode

At the 2nd try I've formatted an USB stick with fat32. Then after seeing a tutorial in Ubuntu forums I mounted the Solyd iso and copied the files to the USB stick. ulusu@pn-pc ~ $ sudo mkdir /mnt/iso -p [sudo] password for ulusu: ulusu@pn-pc ~ $ sudo mount /home/ulusu/Downloads/solydk64_201407.iso /...

Re: Trouble installing SolydX-64 in UEFI-mode

@xcom Root could be the EFI partition if a linux distro would, by any chance, install not only all GRUB files but also the kernel images on to this partition. The Debian based distros don't use this method yet. They only install the grubx64.efi binary and perhaps some configuration files like Ubuntu...

@wayne

Thanks :)

I'll give the last uploaded iso a try with a fat32 formated usb stick and old dd ;)

P.S.: GRUB has still some bugs but now it can boot in EFI/UEFI mode.

Re: Trouble installing SolydX-64 in UEFI-mode

Still nothing :( So I look to the tutorial you linked and try it. 1. when i try the ls command I saw that the first partition was (hd0,gpt1) the EFI partition. 2. set root=(hd0,gpt1) Root cannot be the EFI partition. You have to look were is your Solyd partition. This you should check with ls at th...

Re: Cannot get cups to work in systemd

I have installed three packages from the current Debian testing: libpoppler46, cups-filters-core-drivers, and cups-filters (in that order). I'm not the right person to test this (it's working for me). So, if you want to try them out, you can download the files for your architecture here: http://dow...
