Re: Laptop: dual boot installation with Win 10

Use Win10 to shrink the partition, don't use Linux. You might have problems shrinking it below 470gb. I'm curios about that. No, ntfs is not the best format. You might encounter problems with data integrity. But since there is no ext4 driver for Win10 afaik, you can't use anything else. With Win7 I...

Why laptops are cheaper than desktop and mini PCs?

Why do I not find a similar desktop or mini PC to these laptops, that are cheaper or at least comparable in price (~500€)?
I do not understand..

To use 4k really needs a lot of graphic power which laptops just don't have. One of those cheap mini pcs made as TV stations can have that power. Or a ryzen 3 xxxxG.
Does gaming on 4k require the same amount of resources as watching movies on 4k?
I'm not interested in gaming at all.

thanks.

4k Monitor: is it supported from my laptops?

Hi, I'm going to buy a new monitor to be used with my laptop. Above 27', maybe a 32', maybe a 4 k monitor. It will be used for office applications and (mostly) to watch movies. I'm not interested in games. Well. I have 2 laptops, with these graphic cards: - the "old" one with a nvidia geforce g105m ...

Re: Thunar: recent folders and folder content (#items)

Sorry, probably I wasn't clear. Here 2 screenshots: - in the column "size" instead of the size should be displayed the number of items in a folder. Or be empty. Screenshot1.jpg - when saving, let display in the window a "recent folders" item, so that a recent visited folder can easily be chosen. Scr...

Thunar: recent folders and folder content (#items)

Hello,

do you know how in Thunar:

- when saving, let display in the window a "recent folders" item, so that a recent visited folder can easily be chosen.
- in the column "size" instead of the size should be displayed the number of items in a folder.

Thank you!

Re: Remove Nvidia logo from boot splash screen

I don't have Nvidia, but a simple search led me here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA/Tips_and_tricks#Disabling_the_logo_on_startup To disable Plymouth, run SolydXK System Settings and uncheck "Enable Plymouth Splash" in the "Plymouth splash" tab: Screenshot_20191026_112642.png great, t...

Re: Remove Nvidia logo from boot splash screen

Any idea about the nvidia logo?

Beside this I'd like to disable Plymouth, since it shows only 3 ugly, gray dots during the boot process.
But differently from SolydK9 I do not find any GUI to do that.

Thanks!

[SOLVED] Audio from headphones is disturbed

Hi, I'm using the new SolydK10. The audio from headphones is disturbed, like a "river flowing" in background... or as the volume would be really high. Indeed it is not. On the same laptop I use SolydK9, without problems. But I do not remember if years ago I had to apply a workaround as well. Any ide...

Fix still needed in SolydK10. I had to combine the 2 tricks from comment #50 and #65 /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/intel-audio-powersave I changed the line INTEL_AUDIO_POWERSAVE=${INTEL_AUDIO_POWERSAVE:-true} to INTEL_AUDIO_POWERSAVE=false into /etc/pulse/default.pa, found the following line: load-modul...

Re: Installer crashes

I can only guess what's happening with this information. I've updated live-installer-3. So, if you'd like to try out the new installer you only have to boot the ISO you already have and start the installer. It will update itself before it starts. Of course, you will need an internet connection befo...

It works for me.

You could try to use the "Single ISO" option. It simply uses dd to write the ISO to the USB.
It works, thanks!

What does the option "Partition device - This will remove all data from the device" perform?
This will partition (create partitions) the device (and format those partitions).
Well, how? No additional options or information are shown.
Thanks.
