Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

I am finishing up the ISOs now. I'll let you know when the ISOs are uploaded. I have checked every installed application and found just one on both that I cannot solve: LuckyBackup as root does not start: QCoreApplication::applicationDirPath: Please instantiate the QApplication object first luckyba...

4k Monitor: does it make sense?

Hi, I'm going to buy a new monitor (something between 27' and 31') soon. It will be used mainly connected to my laptop to stream movies and do sometimes office stuffs. I am not a gamer or graphic editor. a) Does it make sense to spend more and buy a 4k monitor over a 1080p? (budget: max. 250€) Is th...

Re: AIO, HDMI Stick, Mini-PC, Monitor?

hi ilu, thanks for your help. do you think a SBC (RPI 4, Odroid N2, etc.) is not suitable for this purpose - connected (HDMI) to a Monitor and used exclusively to watch movies, news, etc. on media centers / websites like ARD, ZDF, Arte, Youtube, Rai, etc., listen to music and exceptionally to surf t...

for around $100 you can get fast rpi-like stuffs. browsing is actually a resource eater activity. second only to gaming. you'll need 4gb or higher ram to comfortly browse the sites
hi kurotsugi,
do you have any example?

Re: AIO, HDMI Stick, Mini-PC, Monitor?

It seems to be very easy! And they launched RaspberryPi 4 (with up to 4 GB RAM) recently! https://projects.raspberrypi.org/en/projects/raspberry-pi-setting-up At the end, I can use it like a "normal" pc with a good mid-level hardware, right? Or do I have some limitations, due to the ARM technology, ...

Re: AIO, HDMI Stick, Mini-PC, Monitor?

If it is not difficult, I could consider this option as well:

- Buy and configure a Raspberry-Pi (never done: is it easy? I'd like just to have a access to websites and their media centers and watch movies, news, listen to music, etc.) and a new monitor.

AIO, HDMI Stick, Mini-PC, Monitor?

Hi everybody. I'd like to change soon my external 24' monitor, that we use mostly to watch movies over my laptop. But since my laptop is pretty old as well (almost 10 years old, although it works with SolydK9 flawless, except in summer (overheating problems)), I'm considering some options: - Buy a n...

Re: SolydXK 10 Preview and Testing

quick question: would it be feasible to wait just a few weeks and integrate Xfce 4.14 in SolydX 10? Xfce 4.14 will be released by mid-August. https://wiki.xfce.org/releng/4.14/roadmap Some others distros, like MX, are going to do that before releasing their own new version based on Debian 10. Since ...

MX-Linux success: why?

What's your opinion about the MX-Linux success?
What are they doing so good so that they became so popular in the last months?
And... what could we learn/copy/use from them?

Thanks!

Re: Firefox: "Privacy and Security" settings are blocked from my organization

I suppose the actual firefox settings (provided by firefox-solydxk-adjustments) combined with ublock origin, https everywhere and privacy badger offers an ideal protection, right? if it so, I'm fine with it. Nevertheless: Why are Trackers (blocked) Cryptominers Fingerprinters not selected by default?
