Re: UP process change

BTW, what is required of a tester anyway?? Just curious... What does a tester do? What exactly do they test and how? Is there a page or post on that topic and a way for testers to sign up? I would like to know this, too. Does every tester test everything, or are certain sections allotted to various...

Re: UP process change

- the last monthly UP's were around 400+ MB each. A 3 months interval will probably mean a 1000+ MB upgrade process. - I think this will mean that the (3) available mirrors will be overloaded and that - the time needed (user end) will be excessive (from my point of view those mirrors are quite slow...

Re: UP process change

I had decided that if the next UP went well on my testing machine I would put SolydK on my production system. Under the new update regime I shall have to wait an extra week of two, but I can live with that! As for quarterly updates, I can live with that, too. And I'm looking forward to Solyd going o...

Re: SolydXK Theme and Icon pack

I, too, like the middle one. Mainly because it is different from the usual rectangular ones.

Nice.

Re: Pipelight by default

I installed pipelight to have a working silverlight . I noticed that the flash available was older than the pepper flash version.
So I tried using the pipelight flash and was told by the sites I visited that the flash needed updating. - Something to watch for when using pipelight flash.

Re: Flash doesn't work Error 2032

Yes, the new debian pepper flash plugin works well.

In the firefox plugin list it is called shockwave flash so this is probably why Fargo was mentioning shockwave.

Re: Making installation easier

The live installer misses several important features, and what is described here, is one of those missing features. It's complicated to solve, and even a replacement is considered. So, I'm afraid it's not going to be solved soon. I'm confidant you ill find a way to make things easier. In the meanti...

Re: Flash doesn't work Error 2032

An interesting point to note. I just tried the website with the livecd I used to install with and it works just fine This is a new install that I just completed recently too. So it must have been broken by something else I installed. Or possibly by the fact I used an old firefox profile. But the is...

Re: Making installation easier

....Some almost do that now by offering to install alongside existing OS's. I rmember putting one of the first kanotix offerings on a Windows machine, and it said did I want to keep windows? then shrank the windows partition and added kanotix. I don't know if SolydK will do that as I didn't put it ...

Making installation easier

I saw that the installer suggested putting home in a separate partition. I wanted to do this and found it anything but easy. Running gparted to me is a bit scarey. But after much finger crossing I got it right. Is there any way that the installer can not only see what is already on the hd, but have ...
