Command to correct overscan in ATI driver

Hello, In case you have a ATI video card and install the latest drivers, Your monitor may have a black border around it. This usually happens with 27" monitor where the information may not be correct. When you go into the Catylst Control Center, Under display, Monitor there should be a slider for ov...

Email Software

Hello, I would like to know if anyone is using evolution email in a KDE enviroment. I know that you can use thunderbird, But I like evolution also. It has been a while since I have used it, as I found it's development to be older than that of Thunderbird and to be honest boring when it came to featu...

Re: Samba with Dynamic IP

Hello, With the windows boxes you just have to make sure they are in the same domain or workgroup. They do not need to have static ip's you just have to also make sure you have an account created on the windows boxes. If there are in the same workgroup you should see them under network, click on it ...

Re: SolydXK "Stable" vs LMDE "Stable"

OK, so from what I understand, LMDE is going to stop using the UP's and base it off from Debian Stable just like SolydXK is going to do. What will make SolydXK better than LMDE? With the UP's, SolydXK did them more often so that was a clear advantage in picking SolydXK over LMDE. They have the big ...

Re: The future of SolydXK

I don't mind so long as it works fine and so long it is good for open software. I search and find my way ((XKLM.. )ubuntu, Mint, Debian, Red Hat etc., even when it has to be.. Windows or Apple, but I hope it will be Free Software. ) And then today there are all the handhelds. One way or another, I ...

Re: Samba with Dynamic IP

Hello,

Maybe this will help you with configuration. When I used samba, I would have to put smb://ip address in the file manager and then log in. You have to make sure your smb.conf file is setup correctly. This information should help you get that done.

Re: xorg hogging memory in SolydX

Hello, The best thing to do at this point is to open htop or system monitor and look at processes. Specifically check the xorg process and see if it shows that it is using high memory. Are you by any chance using dual monitors? At one time I did and I was using kde and xorg would grow until I had no...

Re: xorg hogging memory in SolydX

Hello, Just some suggestions, Others may have a more solyd solution :D 1. Have you looked at system monitor to see what program might be eating up your memory. I know that firefox has been known to cause this issue. 2. What version of your drivers are you using? 3. Did this just start? or has it bee...

Hello Wildman, First can you post the output of inxi -FNzxx Then go into etc/network/interfaces and make sure on the hotplug line you have the correct eth listed. Mine is eth1, once I changed that from eth0 it now connects to my network and it even displays the ip and other network info. XFCE uses a...
