Re: ISO testing 201407

Hello, I don't know if this is of any help on the plymouth issue, I used the purge command that Scott put out..Glutten for punishment. I am using the 072014RC X version. Once that was done, I rebooted and first got a blank screen, Then I rebooted again and got a checkerboard, red, blue, green screen a...

Re: What does Solyd mean, really?

grizzler/ScottQuier: Thank you for the replies but I, for one, have no intention of running unnecessary bloatware to slow down my, admittedly low-spec, machines simply to help feckless people who have chosen to run Windows rather than Linux. I suggest that, to appease the altruistic users among the...

Re: Why does something go viral?

Hello, I think it is human nature to share information. However, I think that social media has perverted what and how we share information. Because of the like button and other things. Social media has created this behavior that we should share every thing, even if it is twisted and really shouldn't...

The beginings of the Internet

Hello, This is a link to Tech Talk today on the Linux Action show. Brings back many memories. If we still had BBS's and the internet also that would be a very cool thing. I miss the days of zmodem and BBS's and just the fun of computing. http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/62932/the-internets-humble-...

Running the 072014 RC ISO X version

Hello, Just wanted to let you know that I am running the X64 version listed in subject line. So far the only issues that I have had is when I install the ATI drivers through DDM, Instead of the desktop filling up the entire 27 inch monitor I have. I end up with a 1/2 inch black border on sides, and ...

Hello, Try reinstalling the kdm desktop and see if that brings back your graphical desktop. But first look in /var/log/apt/history.log and see if it tells you what was removed. You might want to post that, someone more experienced will be able to tell you exactly what to do. You don't have to reinst...

Hello,

I did what fleabus suggested, but I went in and changed eth0 to eth1 and rebooted, and now it shows that it is connected and sees my router and network. So it seemed to have solved the issue.

Hello, What drives me up the wall is when people use computers and they have issues, use the excuse well I don't know how to use a computer. Really? What gave you that Idea? I don't mind helping people, but at least try and learn what might be the problem. Another thing is when tech's have a issue, ...

Hello, After using KDE for years and really loving it, I have switched to XFCE. So far it has been a learning experience to get it setup the way I want and there are still things to do. Have a couple of questions. 1. What fonts do you think makes X look better? I normally use Arial black, but that i...

Re: Modifying the default grub.d scripts

Maybe I'm missing the point here? How is one supposed to know what errors are happening if we are hiding information that grub sends out? Remember, This distro is used by many people, not just new users. It fine if you want to do that for your users, but is not a good thing for everyone, I never lik...

Thanks Schoelje, I believe it was due to me doing the update and then changing over to systemd. However, I have redone my system with the latest iso and everything is working fine. There's no telling what happened and it wasn't because of Solydxk, but something I probably did wrong. I am currently u...

Re: SOLVED - Help - UP 2014-15-07 left me with only CLI

I just attempted to updated to 2014-15-7. Unfortunately the update failed and left me without a desktop. What can I do to get things going again? Thanks.
