Update achieved

Hello, The recent update for me went well, The only issue I had was that my KDM desktop got corrupted, I had no borders and my pager was gone. The only thing I had to do was choose the KDM plasma desktop and then log in. Once that was done, I put the pager back on the task bar and all was good in th...

Re: Progress Report

Yep they All Need to Learn the SolydXK Way! :P Still Stuck using Windows 8.jpg . If he had to run....it would be worth having a camera ready! I see it now....1,2 watch him flip. If he had to dodge a car, well....let's just say " I tried to run, but the car won" to the tune of " I fought the law and...

Thoughts on KDE 5

Hello, I have been playing around with the KDE 5 iso that I got from a link on this site. I installed it in a VM. I would like to know if anyone else has checked it out and what are your thoughts on it? Some things I have noticed 1. Seems to be fewer choices in system settings, which is not a bad th...

Re: Add Apache OpenOffice to repos

If I may offer a suggestion, why not add Apache OpenOffice to our repos? Maybe a community repo? It would really nice to have an alternative to LO. Apache OpenOffice is the same as LibreOffice except it has fresh code. From what I understand, it was completely rewritten (Which may be the reason it ...

Re: Remove shadow of the window title - Firefox

Hello,

I think if you turn off hinting under System setting-Application Apearance-fonts Then Anti Aliasing. turn off the hinting style and see if that helps.

[quote="Orbmiser"]Well comes down to what works for the individual and much has to do with expectations and personal aesthetics. Orbmiser, You make a valid point. One reason I tend to put at least 8gigs of mem in my systems, come from the windows days, specifically windows 7. I found that windows ra...

Switching MB's from Intel based to AMD based

Hello, Recently I asked the question about the difference between Intel and AMD concerning linux. Although I have received only 3 replies, hoped for more  I did switch out my motherboard to a AMD without reinstalling SolydK. Strange behavior in FF esr version

Hello, Whenever I log into my outlook.com email. I get a message that states I need to upgrade my FF to a newer version. I was wondering if anyone else has received this warning and if there is a solution to it. I have installed Pale Moon and I do not get that warning even though the version of pale...

Re: XFCE

Thanks for that reply, after reading the link, I have learned something new. I never looked at empty ram in that manner, With that being said, The 8gig that I have should be more than enough for my usage patterns. I also like the way you put using KDE, and yes using XFCE would entail learning how to...

XFCE

Hello, I have a simple or not so simple question. "What do you like about XFCE" I am a long time KDE user and as I get older, I am not so much into the eye candy, as I am more into the form and function now. I like to be able to have multiple browsing tabs open and various apps, but I don't want mos...

Fresh Install vs Upgrade

Hello, I would like to know why everyone states that fresh installs are better than upgrades? I ask this because I have never had a issue with doing a upgrade on any OS that I have used. Even with windows I never had issues with doing upgrades, However, I am not a fool when it comes to windows, I do...

Hello, Wow, I love the how many responses I got to this question, I love reading the reasons why people use what they use. Re: What browser would be the best to use.

Thanks to everyone that replied, I am going to give pale moon a try. I tried chrome, but for some reason it does not import FF bookmarks very well, or at least not in a organized fashion. But maybe will redo my bookmarks for chrome, that way, I will be able to import them, should I need to reinstall...

Re: X problem

Hello, This may seem simple, but have you taken the cd out of the cdrom? Being that it is a live cd, could you actually be logging into that? Not trying to offend your intelligence, but I have installed Solydxk on my machine a few times and never did it say live mode. It might explained why you don'...

Hello,

If you get a chance to load SolydK on another system, Try it without plymouth and see if it will load. Seems that loading plymouth can and will cause issues.

Re: Oversized Tray Icons after Upgrade to KDE 4.12.4

Hello, I also have the same issue with the icons in the system tray. This started after the update, I have switched to several different icon settings and they are still oversized. I have even deleted the bar and created a new one, but I still have the same issue. Changing the width of the bar does ...
