Re: Multimedia Codecs - Restricted Extras

I'm not quite sure about the first case but for the 2nd case solydxk theorically should be working. if that mp4 file comes from youtube then we should remember that youtube separated their stream for audio and video for several modes. please try to open that file from other OS and tell us the result.

Re: Metapackage Installer

I don't know how AUR work yet. especially how it handle multiple dependencies. nevertheless, AFAIK antix system is still using same mechanism with apt. it means that it can't save you from package breaking.

Re: Installing TLP (via PPA??)

the package already builded and tested on testing by the developer. I don't see any reason to repeat the process just to make it it officially uploaded on our repo. using that PPA also have more benefit for user (i.e: faster update, guaranted support). let's just keep it that way :3

Re: Installing TLP (via PPA??)

if you satisfied with that one then it's good for you. however, the one z uploaded was the old version (v 0.4) while the newest version is 0.5-1. without that ppa you'll also won't get the next update automatically.

Re: Installing TLP (via PPA??)

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/linrunner/tlp/ubuntu lucid main this ppa contain the debs for debian testing and officially maintained by tlp developer. you can safely add this repo and install tlp from there. the newest version is 0.5-1 and it has several new feature. NOTE: please note that the repo ...

Re: Should I use apt-get or aptitude?

I've also heard that if someone was to use apt-get or aptitude, that they should stick to one and not mix. Is this so? I mixed them for a long time and never got any problem with it :3 one of the reason could be because any package installed/removed with with apt-get, aptitude want to revert it. yo...

Re: So what's your take on Manjaro?

I'm afraid my situation is a lil bit more complicated than that :3 nvm. it already got fixed. as for this, "Do notice it sure shuts down and boots up about 30% faster to Desktop!". I'm a lil bit curious about it. my debian setup with systemd somehow always faster than manjaro by 50%. 27seconds vs 13...

Re: Julian Assange: Debian Is Owned By The NSA

aside from the huge battle here...the risk is actually could be minimalized :3 for an example, in ubuntu, all the package is builded and uploaded by machine. the package maintainer only responsible to upload the source code and the config file. this design is more transparent and everyone could chec...

Re: Julian Assange: Debian Is Owned By The NSA

IMO Assange have a point there. the possibility of doing that on debian is quite high. NSA can do that in various ways. 1. secretly modify upstream source code. our case with openssl might be one of their works. 2. pay/threaten the package maintainer to upload compromised binary file. 3. get one of ...

Re: ubuntu-tweak

Wasn't that Gnome Tweak? Ubuntu-tweak predates Gnome 3 by several years. I remember using it with Ubuntu 9.04. I'm not quite sure by my self. I started using ubuntu again since 12.04 and unity already replaced gnome shell. at that time I didn't recall any tool called gnome tweak. the tool I used wa...

Re: ubuntu-tweak

My second thought is that this is designed to tweak the Ubuntu desktop. We don't have one of those around here. So, I'm with grizzler on this one - doesn't sound like a good idea. I wonder what is the unsatisfied dependencies :3 aside from that, installing it on solydxk might be not dangerous. it's...

Re: Netrunner announced Rolling Release based on Manjaro

the number of package in manjaro official repo is quite small so that the workload might not as hard as we've imagined :3
just like arch, the official repo only contain essential package. the rest of the package is taken from AUR.

Re: Netrunner announced Rolling Release based on Manjaro

I wonder why there're lot of negativity about this project :3 This looks like nothing more than Netrunner taking Manjaro's hard work and putting their name on it. netrunner have their own tools which not exist on manjaro. using something as the base and add their own tools is something common in lin...

Re: Clementine as Default Music Player

Regarding the "default music player" question - does it really matter? The point about defaults is that they basically just give the user a few applications to get started. After that, installing the applications of the user's choice is just a click or two away. We all have our own personal prefere...

Re: Ubuntu phone.

ubuntu phones isn't linux on our pocket. the concept of a smartphone capable to transform into full fledged desktop computer is a genuine idea and only implemented by ubuntu. I think this idea is quite interesting.
