Re: I need your opinion: off-line installation of locales

a little bit off topic but I think we could shrink a lil bit more. on solydx's latest iso I got imagemagik, shotwell, gimp, and one more app to see pictures (I forgot the name, sorry). I think we can unistall two of them since they have similar purpose, i.e: leave only gimp and shotwell on the iso.

Re: Debian security flaw - GnuTLS

I have one more concern about this issue. when the testing was over the debian's security repo is frozen along with the other repo. in that case, we don't get any security update and raise the vulnerability of our system. I think we should not delay any security path update. the security repo should...

Re: [SOLVED] Dolphin not mounting selected partitions on boo

ubuntu have that setting out of the box since most of their user is desktop user. debian didn't do the same since most of their user is server and they need to tighten the security. solydxk might need to follow ubuntu's step if they're aiming for desktop user :3

Re: How to set Dolphin to no password to access other partit

the problem is on the udisk policy setting :3 the config file is on /usr/share/polkit-1/actions. look into org.freedesktop.udisk.policy or org.freedesktop.udisk2.policy (depends on which udisk you have). go into <action id="org.freedesktop.udisks2.filesystem-mount-system"> #scroll down and change th...

Re: Another PAE vs 64bit question

Something to consider: PAE does not allow any one application to use more than 3.5 gigabytes of RAM but 64 bit does. Debian has multi-arch but you may need to install it , so you can use 32 bit programs in a 64 bit system. definetely no. a 32 bit OS originally can't have RAM bigger than 4gb but thi...

Re: XP Computers conveted to Solydxk

I would recommend the business edition. Fewer updates and maintenance for the new users. If you go that route be sure to install the kipi plugins so they have the best photo editing experience. I'm quite agree with this suggestion. business edition would be lot easier for first linux user. if you'r...

I have an exact wifi card but I never got any problem you've mentioned. the problem might lies on your wifi connection, not the hardware. that tutorial is about different hardware. I'm not sure if it will work on you.

Re: UP process change

if you have a security hole and your system got breached on most cases you won't notice it  the right question will be "is there any unpatched security bug in solydxk?" i believe there isn't any. both debian and solydxk have done a good job keeping solydxk as a secure OS. lowering the build qua...
