Re: systemd on Solydxk

well...it's not the boot time. manjaro have nice xfce desktop and they have a lot of cool tools for user. the things that prevent me from using them is my unfamiliarity with pacman and downloading the iso. I live in indonesia and with my slow internet connection it might take a whole day to download...

Re: systemd on Solydxk

I don't know the purpose of that line but i'm sure that both solydx and LMDE didn't have any script by default on rc.local kurotsugi@kurozv3:~$ cat /etc/rc.local #!/bin/sh -e # # rc.local # # This script is executed at the end of each multiuser runlevel. # Make sure that the script will "exit 0" on ...

Re: systemd on Solydxk

what he mean is that /etc/rc.local isn't not used again in debian. the file is still there but it only contain 'exit 0' as default. the script was moved to somewhere (I forgot which one) but user still could use rc.local if they want (like I did). since I'm not using systemd-sysv /etc/systemd/system...

Re: XFCE lock screen

you have three option:
1. completely uninstall xscreensaver
2. edit the xsreensaver interface
3. install another screensaver

the xscreensaver have a gui editor to change the interface. I forgot the name but surely you can find it easily on the menu.

Re: UP process change

that's a different point a view about 'what is a security update'. I have different opinion about that definition. anyway, that's not our main point here. since kde is on solydxk's own repository, it's fully rolling and the upgrade policies isn't tied with the UP (in short, we'll get updates even if...

Re: Google Chrome vs. Firefox

for me, it's always firefox.
- better privacy
- lower memory footprint
- simple interface
- smaller package
- less crash - in fact, I never got it crashed on linux.
- open source

Re: UP process change

KDE isn't part of security updates (and I see no reason why it should be a security update) but AFAIK it's part of solydxk's own repository and fully rolling. when I write this post we already have 4.12 in the repo while in debian testing we still have the old 4.11. we'll get the updates whenever so...

Re: UEFI installation guide?

it's a little bit out of topic. in case if user insist to use GPT over MBR we'll need new installer eith EFI support. I know that we're still working on it but I'd like to hear the latest news about it. how's it goin?

OP misread that python code and thought that mintupdate is sending data to google. in reality it's just a ping except Exception, detail: print detail if os.system("ping " + prefs["ping_domain"] + " -c1 -q"): log.writelines("-- No connection found (tried to read http://www.google.com and to ping " + ...

Re: Where oh where can MATE be...?

mate 1.6 have enter testing since 26 jan 2014. it would be much simpler and safer if we use the package provided by debian.

mate 1.6 have been migrated into testing since 26 jan 2014. IMO it will be easier if we install it from there.

we have a sound card database here --> http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?t=137&p=2232 your card isn't listed there but we can try the method showed there. in general, on intel card, we put this line on /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf options snd-hda-intel model=auto #in case if that didn't work ...

I also managed to install solydxk dual booted with win7 on GPT but I'm not able to create a backup via clonezilla. it said about error mixed mbr and gpt stuff or something like that. at that point converting to MBR will ended up with non bootable system. I suggested to convert to MBR to avoid he get...
