Re: UEFI installation guide?

anyway, just a little bit suggestion, instead of buying the one comes with win7 it will be cheaper if you buy the one without OS installed. most new laptop comes with GPT. you'll still need to convert it to MBR before install solydxk. Yes and it avoids feeding Windows with money, too. AFAIK, ...

Re: Breakages and News tracking Debian Testing

windows 8 didn't have grub. if you still got grub interface it means you one of your linux partition still hold the mbr. you said that the latest kernel in solyxk didn't showed up in the grub. it might because the grub is comes from kwheezy. try with installing grub via 'grub-install' command.

Re: SolydXK on Acer S3

nice review 8-) I got nice experience with acer line up too. everything tends too work out of the box. too bad that asus gives me unresistable offering last month  arch is one of the fastest linux'es. cinnamon is much lighter than kde. nevertheless, it's still hard to believe that arch boots fr...

Re: SolydK on a MacBook Air?

there was a tutorial about using rEFInd to install LMDE/solydxk to a mac but I never tried them. Very interested in the Acer S3 you recommended. Just out of curiousity, how tricky was it to get SolydK running? Are there any features that don't work? Thank you!! in my experience with acer's product t...

I'm just wondering. the udev rule should be enough and we didn't need the rc.local script anymore. am I wrong?

Re: Any audio enhancer in Linux?

the setting usually done by the app. i.e, there's an equalizer and sound effect setting in audacious. the similar option can be found on other app too. if you want to enhance the global setting you can see the pulseaudio setting.

Re: systemd on Solydxk

kurotsugi@kurozv3:~$ systemd-analyze time
Startup finished in 3.013s (kernel) + 10.569s (userspace) = 13.582s
kurotsugi@kurozv3:~$
I can understand that systemd isn't optimized on debian yet but one minute is rather too long. I got my system boot up less than 15 second.

Re: FOREVER UNRESOLVED?! or not? NO AUDIO thru HDMI w/AMD Ra

AFAIK the problem lies on the kernel. the ATI HDMI support only activated on recent kernel started from 3.11. we'll need to get kernel 3.11 or newer to use HDMI.

Re: Pure free SolydK BE/BO

the drivers are free to use and distribute. there's no legal matter on that point. nevertheless, some country did not allow an OS comes with codecs. this isn't a big issue since user aren't prohibited to install them after they install the OS. we have similar tool with mintwelcome aren't we? we can ...

Re: Pure free SolydK BE/BO

business people tends to want everything kept simple and work out of the box. create a fully 'free' version of solydxk might be an interesting project but that's not business people want.

Re: Pure free SolydK BE/BO

I agree with the post above, I think we need to define our "free" first
personally I prefer 'free' as free to use and distribute. aside from unrar which can replaced by 7zip, we'll still need those packages since they're device driver and essentially important for most user.

AFAIK, rcS setting is now deprecated and the UTC stuff have been moved to /etc/adjtime. there's no UTC entry on rcS kurotsugi@kurozv3:~$ cat /etc/default/rcS # # /etc/default/rcS # # Default settings for the scripts in /etc/rcS.d/ # # For information about these variables see the rcS(5) manual page....

Re: Munich completes migration - “Freedom from you, Mr. Gate

the package related with those stuffs are created by debian so that any patent issue about them should be addressed to debian, not us. I guess that's only a part of microsoft's FUD strategy. I never heard any linux distro got sued by those stuffs. this article might good to read http://fossforce.com...

Re: Munich completes migration - “Freedom from you, Mr. Gate

I was just thinking: what would we need to do to make SolydK BE patent free so that governmental institutions could use it? AFAIK with non-free packages as an exception, all packages from debian are free and anyone can use it. IMO our concern regarding patent problem would be: 1. codecs. we're usin...
