Re: [Talk] Home Edition security updates

Same here. Nvidia drivers keep working fine. Maybe it's because we are on legacy 304? Dou you have modern GPU? The second part where the Nvidia driver is installed doesn't seem to be working this time. Tried it again... rob@robs-desktop ~ $ sudo apt-get install nvidia-detect [sudo] passw...

Re: [Talk] Home Edition security updates

The latest nvidia related security updates stopped the Nvidia driver from working. Using advice in this tutorial I was able to get the Nouveau driver going. http://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2908 I've followed this tutorial a couple of times in the past but this time when I tried the sec...

Re: Installer requesting “An EFI system partition”

Update...

After powering the pc down I decided to try it again and this time it installed.
Perhaps it needed a reboot after setting the boot flag on sdc4?
I don't know.

At this point it's there on sdc3 but not showing up in GRUB.

Re: Installer requesting “An EFI system partition”

Created a fat32 formatted partition for this EFI thing.

And the installer didn't like it.

partitions2.png (28.84 KiB) Viewed 4841 times
so using gparted I set the flag to "boot"

Tried it again and the same error message came up.
What should I do?

Re: Installer requesting “An EFI system partition”

you need to check if your Seven is installed in EFI mode or not before this: A few months ago when I ordered this PC I asked that secure boot be switched off. It came with Windows 7 pre installed on sda. I had no trouble installing SolydK 64 052014 from USB stick. At the time I don't think the Soly...

Re: Installer requesting “An EFI system partition”

it depends on how did you designed your multiple boot system. if you use grub to manage your system and use sdb as your boot point then after install the new solydxk then you'll need to boot up into your old solydxk and run "sudo update-grub". there are several possible scenario but the most import...

Re: Installer requesting “An EFI system partition”

it can't use ntfs partition. it have to be vfat or fat32. Sounds like I can't point it at sda1. I could create a 100 MiB fat32 partition on the same disk as I'm installing to which is sdc. Having never done this before I'm wondering how this may affect GRUB. Will I still be able to boot into my pri...

Re: Installer requesting “An EFI system partition”

This is not a deal breaker for me, just a minor inconvenience. The solution is probably a simple one. I don't remember seeing this message when I did my first install of SolydK64 onto sbd. Perhaps it was taken care of automatically then? If so, this partition should already exist. sda1 is a 100 MiB ...

Installer requesting “An EFI system partition” [Solved]

Currently my PC has sda - Windows 7 sdb - SolydK64 sdc – data along with 3 empty partitions I'd like to do a second install of SolydK64 on sdc4 as a backup but the installer is highlighting an issue which I don't understand. See pic below. InstalProb.png I'm installing from the same USB used for the...
