Re: Libreoffice crashing

Ahh, I see... LibreOffice_4.2.4_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz and contents of the extracted folder LibreOffice_4.2.4.2_Linux_x86-64_deb are no longer required after install. I didn't know. One more thing... At some point the Solyd packaged LO will surpass version 4.2.4.2 When this happens will it be neces...

Re: Libreoffice crashing

Does it matter where it is extracted to?

Is it OK to have the folder "LibreOffice_4.2.4.2_Linux_x86-64_deb" created in my home directory or should it go somewhere else?

Re: Libreoffice crashing

Scott, I tried searching for the term "LibreOffice" under your profile and out of 22 posts didn't see any specific instructions on how to install the latest version from libreoffice.org.

I still need some guidance here.

Bump.
Can anyone offer advice on how to install LibreOffice 4.2?
Have I downloaded the correct file?

Re: Libreoffice crashing

Not sure how to install LO4.2 or even if I've downloaded the correct file.

So far LibreOffice_4.2.4_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz is sitting in my home folder.
Ark wants to extract it to /var/tmp/kde-rob/arkOweIAu

Am I on the right track here?

Re: Specs for new PC?

Due to an unexpected hiccup in my finances shortly after I started this thread, I decided to delay for a couple months the purchase of a new PC. Re: Bookmarks Sidebar button gone in Firefox 29?[Solved]

I completely overlooked the [View Bookmarks Sidebar] menu option all together. My eye raced past it every time.
Thanks for pointing that out.
Still, given the option of 1 click access vs 2 clicks I'll stay with 1.

Re: Bookmarks Sidebar button gone in Firefox 29?[Solved]

I assume we're talking about the 5 pointed star icon. This is a bit different whereby it produces a drop down menu instead of the usual sidebar to the left. From the drop down menu a user has to scroll to the right to select a link from a folder. I like everything to happen in just one column, click...

Re: Bookmarks Sidebar button gone in Firefox 29?

Thanks grizzler, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... erestorer/ did the trick.
I can't understand why Mozilla are trying to discourage the use of a bookmarks sidebar.
The option of a sidebar and sidebar button should be standard in any browser.

The partition to be auto mounted at boot is sdc1. Re: Auto mount an internal hard disk on bootup

Yes Orbmiser, I did read your post. Sorry I did not specifically address your question. No, not NTFS. Before we go any further I'd like to know if what I'm trying to achieve is called auto mounting or if it's called something else. If I use incorrect terminology I could be wasting the time of people...

Re: Auto mount an internal hard disk on bootup

I want to access partition sdc1 without having to go through an authentication dialog box.
I want applications to have access too.

Is that not called auto mounting?

Auto mount an internal hard disk on bootup [Solved]

In KDE is there a way to auto mount an internal hard disk partition on bootup. I want to bypass the Dolphin authentication dialog box every time when accessing this partition. I've tried Applications>Settings>System Settings>Removable Devices without success. What's the best way to achieve this?

Scott's tutorial seems clear enough so I'll try it via terminal.

Bookmarks Sidebar button gone in Firefox 29?[Solved]

Trying to customize the new Firefox to my liking and can't find the Bookmarks Sidebar button.
Wondering if Mozilla have deliberately omitted this in 29, or is there something wrong with my Firefox install?

Control+B will open th side bar but I prefer using the mouse.

Device Driver Manager won't install nvidia driver.[Solved]

Just going through the process of tidying up a fresh install of SolydK64 on a fresh desktop pc.
DDM recommends the Nvidia display driver but when I tick the box and click [yes] nothing is downloaded and nothing is installed.

What should I do?
