Re: One tune a day ...

Vtpoet said, “To really do this symphony justice, it needs to be cranked with full base.” I agree, don't listen to the audio on a crappy netbook like I did, different experience all together through decent headphones I found. Did someone say “classics”? When I started thinking about classic songs, o...

Re: One tune a day ...

@jsalpha2 I've never heard that song before, I can't get some of the lyrics either. @Rokytnji Thanks for sharing, I really wish I'd seen the Divinyls live. I overlooked the B52's back in the day, only to realise just how unique the band really are years later. The only note worthy concert I ever wen...

Re: One tune a day ...

Divinyls Was an Australian rock band that was formed in Sydney in 1980. The band primarily consisted of vocalist Chrissy Amphlett and guitarist Mark McEntee. Re: TuxJam episode 33 - SolydK

Maybe a case of KDE being reviewed by somebody with little KDE experience. Not a great deal of information regarding SolidK itself.
Pity.

Re: My back yard

Thanks for the replies.
I didn't expect any replies to be honest, though my pictures might be as exciting as watching paint dry. Personally, I enjoy seeing and hearing about other peoples surroundings and where they live, the Internet really has made the planet a smaller place.

My back yard

Well, from a distance anyway. You can see the town way down there in the valley.
The town boasts, “the country's only Cow Race”.
They don't race horses around here, just cows.

Re: Reasons that are NOT obvious why some use Linux

Not so obvious reasons? Linux and it's associated software does not include, An animated dog. A patronising paper clip. An attitude that suggests that I'm a pirating criminal until proven otherwise. I've never had a problem with paying for good software. However, market monopoly doesn't automaticall...

Re: SolydX Business Edition

Great news, thank you.
I think this addition to the line up makes a lot of sense. In fact, I have a laptop that might be a worthy recipient.

Bravo!

Re: What do you remember as a kid?

With a little hint of peanut butter and jelly. :) It did in fact, although I'm thinking of peanut paste. I think it's the same thing? Saturdays were filled with chores, house cleaning, Saturday Morning Cartoons, yardwork. Same here, and Friday night was horror movies on the telly. Vincent Price! Di...

Re: What do you remember as a kid?

Excellent thread, thank you. As a kid, I remember WHEN : - Pizza was made with shredded ham on top of the cheese, so it became crisp and tangy. - A girl at school went hysterical because someone said the Bay City Rollers broke up. - Every kid had free milk before school recess every day. - Every thi...

Re: Debian Wheezy

Hi Rocky, I think you've asked a very good question. My strategy has been to use stable until testing was near being frozen. While on stable, I'd use back-ports, upstream or compiling where needed, things ran pretty smooth. I initially jumped ship to Solydxk due to It's “semi rolling” release cycle,...

Re: HOWTO: Install SolydX with encryption on LVM

I'm aware that people have been requesting this function over at the LMDE camp for a while now. From what I've read, it's not an easy thing to include, and that development time is more of a priority in other areas. If encryption did become available during the Solydxk install at some future time, I...

Hello from Aus.

Thought I’d be polite and say G’day. I’m a long time user of Linux, although oddly, I never did become an expert with anything related, I simply enjoy using Linux. I’ve tried a few flavours in my time, eventually settling on Debian or one of it’s derivatives. I’m here basically for the following, wh...

Re: HOWTO: Install SolydX with encryption on LVM

Many thanks to vilbjoern and davidcim, combining your suggestions has resulted in a smooth install.

As far as installing Solydxk goes, having full disk encryption has been a deal maker for me.

Appreciated!
