OK at update from myself, I have got Java in Firefox working by installing the icedtea-7-plugin but I getting goolge chrome to work might be a problem if I under stand this correctly:

I understand I dont need to install anything (as I said it was already installed) but in xubuntu I did not have a the mail watcher plugin in the panel, I did not have to configure anything for the notifacation of new email to work it just worked. Maybe Xubuntu did it another way?

I did try that and it does work but it is not as goos as just been able to scroll through the list at will and select\deselect as you go. I dont know if this is a new option in Synatics (Debian version) or an option that most distro's dont enable just so damm infuriating. Would be interested to hear...
