Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

@grizzler I overlooked those packages. I will remove them in the next release. So, the manual/auto issue cannot be improved further. For the time being, I think good is good enough. Right? @bas_otten gpsd is not installed in SolydX. I will remove it in the next ISO. phpmyadmin is not in buster, only...

Re: Firefox miente

Thanks for the feedback.

However, it is "forums.solydxk.com", forums is plural. You wrote "forum.solydxk.com", singular. That domain does not exist.
Even if you continue, you are forwarded to "solydxk.com", not the forums.

Re: My old laptop is WAY behind!

Long time no see! If your system is that way behind in updates, it is safest to do a clean install. Backup your home directory before you do that. Take a look at the nightly builds. In a couple of weeks we will release SolydXK 10 and I don't expect any major changes in the nightlies. https://downloa...

Re: SolydX packages

I have created a bash for the cleanup, including Ilu's lists.

I have attached the bash and the log (manually written so there might be some wrong package names in there).

The ISO booted fine and all software seemed to function. I have uploaded the ISO here: https://downloads.solydxk.com/nightly/

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

I am finishing up the ISOs now. I'll let you know when the ISOs are uploaded. I have checked every installed application and found just one on both that I cannot solve: LuckyBackup as root does not start: QCoreApplication::applicationDirPath: Please instantiate the QApplication object first luckybac...

So does this mean that the apt-mark manual problem is solved?
I think so....I used the settings from the 32-bit iso to change the 64-bit iso. That should be enough, right?

Re: Can't get one update installed

In terminal:

Code: Select all

apt sync
I had some problems a few days ago with the repository. This might be one of those things.
Let me know if that fixed the upgrade.

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

I have used the 32-bit ISOs to cleanup the 64-bit ISOs and to set those package that should be marked auto back to auto again. Together with the packages Ilu suggested to remove I got the SolydX ISO at the same size as the old SolydX 9 ISO: 1.6G. The SolydK ISO is still bigger but 100MB smaller than...

Re: boot delay 90 secs dev-disk-by

How big was the swap file?
Do you use swap for hibernation?

When you have the swap file configured, did you run:

Code: Select all

systemd-analyze critical-chain
Also check /var/log/boot.log
Right after the line "A start job is running for..."

Does the swap UUID in fstab matchth the output of

Code: Select all

sudo blkid

I ran this on the ISOs and checked every purge if no packages were removed that I want to keep: for P in $(dpkg -l *java* | grep ^ii | awk '{print $2}'); do apt purge $P done for P in $(dpkg -l *perl* | grep ^ii | awk '{print $2}'); do apt purge $P done for P in $(dpkg -l *ruby* | grep ^ii | awk '{p...

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

I've downloaded the 32-bit ISOs and created a list with packages that are marked auto: apt-mark showauto > showauto-x-32.txt Now, I am running this bash script (together with the above txt) in SolydX 10: #!/bin/bash for P in $(cat showauto-x-32.txt); do if [ ! -z "$(dpkg-query -l $P 2>/dev/null)" ];...

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

Grizzler, I am very interested in your solutions and I really appreciate your help a lot. I do my best to juggle my spare time between live and SolydXK, I also lack in-depth knowledge of Linux. Programming is no problem, maintaining a system is something different. For me that's more Google with cop...

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

@Ggerson I'll take a look at it. @Grizzler I've created some scripts to generate lists of packages to investigate. create-pck-list.sh creates a csv with optional and extra packages that do not rdepend. I've added the resulting odts and marked some packages for deletion (red=ok to delete, blue=in dou...

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

With my build structure setup, this is not as complicated/cumbersome as it may sound. I'll see if I can pull some of the bits from the build scripts to create a stand-alone version (may be tomorrow before I have time to do that, though...). I've been looking at apt-mark, but couldn't figure out wha...

After upgrading to SolydK 10 the LibreOffice package does not work, in return, I had to install FreeOffice 2018
Can you compress (tar or zip) the log file ~/solydxk10-upgrade.log and post it here?
