Re: Frozen desktop with SolydK10

Hello, Thank you for your answer. I should have known that, but I didn't. Do you have any idea why the desktop freezes? It is in folder view and the icons in de folder Desktop work fine, it is just the one reflected on the desktop. I have installed the 340 Nvidia driver hoping this would help, which...

Re: Frozen desktop with SolydK10

Hello again, well I now know this problem of the frozen icons on the desktop, or better put the frozen desktop, is not caused by the CEWE program. I don't have it installed, I don't have install files on disk, I have nothing from CEWE and again, after a fresh installation the desktop freezes at boot...

Re: Frozen desktop with SolydK10

Good morning, As stated before I followed Arjen's advice and created a new user, which worked fine. I then somehow managed to screw up the renaming of the accounts. Ilu, I also found the website you mentioned, thank you for that, I also found another one describing the same thing. Still, I managed t...

Re: Frozen desktop with SolydK10

Hello Arjen, I did not but I do now and after the first start-up it looks good: I can add an icon from an installed program to the desktop and select it to start the program. Am rebooting now to see if it is not just a coincidence. Question: if things stay the way they should, what is the best (easi...

Re: Using NFS to connect 2 solydK 10 machines

I can mark this post as solved. I found out how to use NFS between 2 computers, which if you know it, is very simple. Since both computers are client as well as server, both computers need the same settings and extra software: install nfs-kernel-server in /etc/exports you write the name of the parti...

[SOLVED] Frozen desktop with SolydK10

Hi all and happy New Year, After installing SolydK10 I now sometimes have the problem that the desktop is frozen, meaning icons can not be chosen nor used to start a program. If I start a program from the panel, or the menu, it works as always, it's just that the desktop is frozen. I have installed ...

[SOLVED] Using NFS to connect 2 solydK 10 machines

Hi all, I have 2 machines here which I want to connect to eachother over the network using NFS, since they are both Linux machines. On the internet I found several manuals how to do that but not one gives me a good result, I've been busy for several days now and it doesn't work. What I did is this: ...

Right click an empty spot on your desktop Choose: Unlock widgets Now an icon appears at the far right side of the panel looking like a hamburger (3 lines above each other) Click it and a bar appears above the panel. Now when you hover over an icon in the panel, you can click and hold it to drag it t...

Re: Program doesn't start correctly

Thank you Ilu. I did search the internet and found this site: https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to-set-locales-i18n-on-a-linux-unix/ Where I saw this info: View/set global locale for all users on a Debian or Ubuntu Linux To see which locales are supported on Debian/Ubuntu, enter: $ locale -a|more To...

[SOLVED] Program doesn't start correctly

Hi, in 2017 I also wrote about this problem, back then in SolydK8 and now after 2 years I have it again, now in 9. The original thread is: https://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7029&p=66460#p66460 I did install the Dutch edition of SolydK9 and also the Dutch version of the Cewe Photoservice...

Update 24-06-2018

Re: SolydXK 9 released!

Okay, thank you Arjen. Since I have no knowledge of how Debian does its thing, what is your general idea about updates on older versions? I would think they still appear otherwise my neighbor would have said something when she does no longer receive updates. Searched the Debian website just now, whi...

Re: SolydXK 9 released!

Hi All, Almost a year ago SolydXK9 has been released and I am wondering when the support for SolydXK8 will end. I installed that version onto my neighbors laptop, no idea when to be honest but it might be 2 years ago already. She manages it just fine, it works, it's stable, no problems what so ever....

Re: Longtime user but never registered

More important, SolydK just works. There's been no need to ask questions. And that is the strength of SolydXK: it just works. It makes it the ideal distro for somebody who needs a computer to do stuff without having problems. It makes it less a distro for the computer "freak" who wants to be workin...

Re: I'm back!

Just read your answer and I wonder what was wrong with your Manjaro setup that caused all these problems. I have 3 computers here which use it and there is nothing that doesn't work, or as in your case, minor problems and/or glitches. Things just work for me. Have you tried the forum to solve these ...

Question: Why?
I have used SolydK for quite some time but then moved to Manjaro which I use for a year now. I just wonder what made you decide to go back? Not that there is anything wrong with it, just being curious.

Re: Errors in installing external program

Well, I now have SolydK installed, no idea what went wrong the first time. This time I did setup the harddisk from scratch with giving it a new partitiontable. I then installed the CEWE photo-software but: ./CEWE\ Fotoservice Incompatible processor. This Qt build requires the following features: sse...

Re: Errors in installing external program

When I type the code in my VM SolydK I get the exact same output as Bas. At the moment I am installing the Dutch locale version onto my laptop and will see if the program works or not. It's the exact same laptop as my neighbor has so when it works here it will work there as well. I just received an ...
