Re: UP - 31/05/2013 9:00 UTC

I opened Main Menu (from the menu :) to see if there was an option to add back the FireFox icon (like there is on a panel Launcher) that disappeared after the UP. By accident I unchecked FF and was unable to re-check it. Just to check, I unchecked Pidgen and was unable to re-check it either. Not sur...

Re: New SolydXK review for both K & X on LXer.com!

The Das U-Blog made the TuxMachines Listing ( http://www.tuxmachines.org/node/60424 ).

Looks like the word is getting out. Now Schoelje <has> to keep up the Good Work (no rest for the wicked).

Re: UP - 31/05/2013 9:00 UTC

Updated SolydX-64 w/nvidia driver. Issue with Firefox: update overwrites search engines list  I did not have this problem, but the upgrade did remove the panel launcher (and menu item) icon for Firefox. EDIT: I was wrong! I was expecting to see that the Google or Amazon items I added would be...

Re: SolydXK/Linux Mint Debian Edition

These are some of the reasons the way I see it: 1) LMDE has no KDE (at l don't think it has any more). 2) More TLC from Schoelje than Clem (Clem has much more on his plate, therefore less time to spend on each). 3) To quote the "SolydXK Update Packs explained": "On the first of each month, the Solyd...

Disable Trackpad with USB Mouse

XFCE (and therefor SolydX) has the ability to automagically disable the trackpad when a USB mouse is inserted (of course you have tell it what command to use). I have seen some KDE distro that have a similar capability. The question is, does SolydK?

Re: Package Manager Choice

....I'd like to say something in defense of Ubuntu's Software Center. While I personally have not (regularly) used either LM's or *buntu's Software Center, in principle I have nothing against them. I was not arguing against <having> a Software Center in SolydXK, what I was arguing against was alloc...

Re: Package Manager Choice

Now, let's be clear, I don't care less what package management option each user uses, your machine your choice. However, I am concerned about the load on Schoelje and so feel that as SolydXK goes forward we need to be careful about where local development efforts are targetted. Basically, I agree w...

Re: Adding a Newer Nvidia Driver

For me, the easiest way to install Drivers later than the ones available with DDM (I beleive it only finds the ones in Debian Testing.. I may be wrong on that). Is to install and use the SMXI scripts. I was hoping to avoid SMXI, really bad experiences with it, abeit a long time ago. Maybe I'll revi...

Adding a Newer Nvidia Driver

Has anyone attempted to add a newer video driver (say 319.44, the current long term driver from the nvidia website) <after> using the DDM to install the repo driver (say 304.88)? Normally when I install the nvidia driver in SalixOS (a Slackware derivative), I update the repos (slapt-get --update), g...

RE: SolydXK IRC. I've been sampling the IRC channel for the past week or so, it is indeed a lonely crypt. Update Manager Icons

I just noticed that the "Busy" and the "Unknown State" icons <appear> to be the same to these old and tired eyes. A bit ago I saw the icon change from the "Up to Date" icon to what I thought was "Busy". After watching it for almost 10 minutes and no change back to "Up to Date", I went looking and no...
