Re: UP 2014.10.15

I boldly upgrade my main PC at work, saw some disturbing messages, but everything was fine, in the end. Looks like something the team warned about: (gtk-update-icon-cache-3.0:3761): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Cannot open pixbuf loader module file '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.c...

Re: VLC update problems Sept2014

that was not what i asked in the post above. you are making it harder to fix. Sorry, but I was reading and picked the recipe from a user that posted here too and it worked for him. And after purging vlc with the command you posted, I got the error window too. I am guessing it is something that deal...

In the recovery mode I get to the point where I can type kdm and get the error below: Any help? Should I install KDE again? (what on earth has hapened!?) kderror.jpg PS: is it th...

Re: VLC update problems Sept2014

You could also use the update manager: in the maintenance section you can select and downgrade the listed downgradeable packages. Very interesting and useful. I never knew that. Should try. But in other machines I updated the system I did not see the error message (and i think they have VLC.. that'...

VLC update problems Sept2014

Some files from VLC, even 'announced" in the Update Manager as upgradable, where not upgraded and on rebooting, I got the message in the picture, below.
Awaiting for the solution :)

Nevertheless, after all this, UpMan says "your system is up to date".

Re: Okular bars

My friend, I'm telling Argen this forum must have some "+1" or "like" button so we can valuate help like this of your without the need to write a lot, but, as due: thank you again! I did not now Ctr+Q did the same trick (in 10 years with GNU/Linux I never knew, or I don't remember). ;) PS: how can I...

Re: Okular bars (SOLVED)

DONE with Ctl+M.
Thank you!

One bar was hidden, the other (tools) not ticked... and the user had to know that, in order to close the application, must use Atl+F4... what most newbies don't know.

Cheers!

Re: Okular bars

Snap wrote:Crtl+M shows or hides menus in KDE apps. But... what bars do you mean? Sidebars? Previews?
Top bars, menu, tools... those ;-)

I'll try Ctl+M (do the bars REMAIN hidden when closing and opening again the app?? Cause they are never shown, except for the side panel, as shown in my attachment).

Okular bars

My friends, why does this Okular missing the bars? It's SolydK 64 (fully updated). I have uninstalled it "fully" in Synaptic, even "purge" it in apt-get, re-installed it and nothing. I have clicked on many Function tools to see if it was in full screen or something like that, but no help, no options...

Re: Home-banking and java issues

But the problem is that with the same version of FF I can access that java home-banking site in another distro!
I have experienced this in all versions of Solyd, and I guess is because Debian's JRE is always older than the one the bank asks for (the very last). Do you agree with me?

try this:
start firefox from the command line like this:

Code: Select all

setarch x86_64 --uname-2.6 firefox
and try to access your account.

It says:

FLOSS

Question for the founders... or anybody with higher knowledge than me:

Debian is almost full FLOSS (no proprietary stuff). How much of that does SolydXK contains? Which external packs that might have some non-libre parts? Codecs, Flash, Java and what else?

It is done. THANKS!
And I'm sorry I never looked inside that application, because I never use it (just leave the default from the distro), in fact. It was more than easy!!

Re: Changes in KDE 4.13 - Where is the “Login Manager”?

If you want it in System Settings install lightdm-kde-greeter. The gtk version is installed as default for coherence amongst SolydK and SolydX as zerozero explained somewhere. But if you use KDE exclusively, who cares. I just need the system to boot directly into desktop for users to star...
