Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

OK, no deal. I have just made a full formatting ( / and /home), i.e . no configurations problems, and instead of a graphical mode I got that loop back to log-in screen, and no console-like window: I got a "blank" black screen, no cursor, no typing possible, so I cannot make the network "up" nor inst...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

...When I've done something like this, I rename the /home/<user name> folder to /home/<old username> or some such so that I create a whole new user folder on /home. I do this while booted in the LiveUSB and before I start the install.... Sometime, I backup /home/<old username> before I blow it away...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Gee, guys, I made a full / installation (/home preserved) in that i3, Gygabite MoBo, Intel chipset SolydK 64 machine and it doesnt enter the graphical mode, nor the text mode to change something in KDE. Is is the KDE - video-card relationship that went wrong? In the previous setting, I tried w...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

The real problem is that each machine is a different case :? In my netbook wirh SolydX 32 I got this, yesterday, after applying the "survival kit" suggestions by zerozero: something about solydxk-system ?? And before that, I noticed (in the middle of that long process od download, unpacking and inst...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Okeyyyyyyy! now that machine don't even enter the konsole mode :-( I got a dark screen and no more ... Any clues? If you give me a clue as to what exactly you did on that machine. You quoted something which contained a prediction that things could get messed up further if you carried on along those...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

One K 64 machine is not login in {bigger problem). Shows me the login screen (was set for auto since always, but the upgrade messed it!), and I put the user (shown) and the password and doesn't get in. It gives me a black screen and back to the login again. To check if this is what I think it is, t...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Sorry, what do you mean with "solydfixes -kduyft" ? That was explained earlier in this thread, here: http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=4303&start=40#p39858 In some situations that may not be enough and you might need sudo apt install --reinstall kde-workspace-bin as well. http://forums....

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Sorry, what do you mean with "solydfixes -kduyft" ? PS: in some machines, UM shows the new number 2.3.8 with a weird date: 2000.01.01 ... But, eventhough I did all that "sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install updatemanager; updatemanager -u" I still have 2.3.7  The error, still: Os pacotes...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Please, Can any of you from the team or any other smarter guy summarize which problem is which? Are we all experiencing the same problems with the UM and, perhaps, KDE? (in the home, rolling version, not BE stable or LTS). Some possible solutions (2 or 3) were posted here and, sincerely, I'm confuse...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

... That does have an uncomfortably familiar ring to it. I was in the process of writing something more about this when your other message came in, so I'll deal with that first. You write about -f install. I didn't mention that. What was the result of the apt purge command? If you look at the messa...

Erros foram encontrados durante o processamento de: /var/cache/apt/archives/libgdbm3_1.8.3-12+b1_i386.deb E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) If the bit you left out mentions problems with overwriting a file that belongs to another package, the solution is simple. Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

I commit the mistake of upgrading all my university machines (3 K 64, 3 X 32) and got different results in each case, being the installations almost identical. One K 64 machine is not login in ( bigger problem ). Shows me the login screen (was set for auto since always, but the upgrade messed ...

Re: [Official Thread] Home Edition security updates

If this isn't the place for the post, please move it. Thanks! PROBLEM with the last update: The graphic UM returned some error (see picture attached). So I run (more than once) the commands in the terminal: apt-get update, upgrade, -f install, autoclean, autoremove, all over again, and got this, in ...

Re: Thunderbird menu

You should just be able to right click in a blank space next to the tabs and check the box that says Menu bar. Holy mother of God! I didn't know that  and I was asking around form months, now, and nobody had an answer! I have just applied this in my working machine and worked perfectly. Gonna...

Thunderbird menu

My friends, I never got an answer or suggestion to change this: Why doesn't Thunderbird show the menu in the main window? It appears only in the new message one. That menu has the configuration and all other tools in. This happens like since ever, and in other Debian distros too,and with Icedove. :(...

Well, after restarting, no more kwin problem.
I'll keep my eyes opened, but, as said before, I had problems with other kernels.

Re: Home Edition security updates

To hell with newer kernels, guys! (sorry for the madness here). I have experienced some problems when updating kernels, before, generally with older machines (1 processor, 1 GB RAM... and I have 2 Athom XP machines running a version from last year, 3.2.11, cause the following kernels gave me ...

Re: No wifi connection - X32

PS: I have installed the new SX ISO (2014.5) yesterday. The network manager in the tray changed again :-P but is nicer.
It doesn't ask details like (WPA1 or 2? hex09 or pass-phrase??) it just offers the wireless access points and you just put the pass-phrase and you're in ;-)

New doubt: Guys, in m menu of SolydX I got a "other" category with something belonging to Libreoffice 3.6  . ... Well, here am I with a brand new installation of SolydX 32 2014.5 in my netbook (no /home formatting, just /). It's very nice. Congratulations to the team. Even though Solyd is (s...
