Re: UP 2013.06.06 12:00 UTC

Success from multiple failures! jsalpha2 try the following (i can't promise that it will work, but deserves a shot) - if you reinstall upgrade using Code: Select all apt update && apt dist-upgrade Did not work, error-"The module will carp with using the default of SSL_Verify_mode of SSL_Verify_None ...

Re: UP 2013.06.06 12:00 UTC

Sorry, I knew better than to ask that. I've installed twice more today, both times same problem. Initial install is great, run UP and get locked out. May be related to questions during UP, "Replace/etc/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf" or replace /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf....I said yes to both? If I try aga...

Re: UP 2013.06.06 12:00 UTC

Schoelje Perhaps you don't have to: Boot into recovery mode, login as root and run this command: Code: Select all passwd your_account_name passwd joe I gave my root password and changed my password(both the same password), but it did not help. When I rebooted my user was gone. Under the man icon was...

Re: Victim of our own success

Are we allowed to upload to LinuxTracker.org? It would get you a little publicity and lighten your server's load?

Re: Gparted how to?

Welcome, If you want to have more control over grub 2, you might want to look at zerozero's post on installing Grubcustomizer.
http://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=248 Fourth post down. It is a nice tool for changing the boot order, background image, font size, etc of the boot menu.

Re: UP 2013.06.06 12:00 UTC

After upgrading I was no longer able to log in at all. It said my password was invalid. Going to re-install after the new ISOs come out.

Re: Another time question

Thanks toothandnail, I had to google to figure out what UTC was and how to find the offset. The chart I found says I'm 5 hours off, but figuring daylight saving time should bring it back to 4. I tried running the command after reading your other post and kept getting hardware clock not found. I thin...

Another time question (Solved)

I've got SolddX set up and showing the correct time, but when I shut down and reboot to Windows, time jumps 4 hours into the future. If it says 8:00PM and I reboot to Windows, it will show midnight. Checked the time in the bios. It's ok. If I go into Mint and then back to Windows time stays the same...

Re: Installation help-Tripple Booting Newbie.

Took the time to do a fresh back up of my Windows drive, and watched the installation video in the tutorial section a few times. Started the install. Made a 25 GB partition for / and another for /home. Did not make swap cause I had one. At the end I unchecked install grub, and Plymouth automatically...

Re: Installation help-Tripple Booting Newbie.

Link to gparted shot http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/6871/screenshot05p.png I'd like SolydX in the unallocated space, and share the linux-swap. Is the swap to small? It's supposed to be twice your RAM? When I installed the Mint I just let it make whatever it wanted. Should there be a /home or am ...

Installation help-Tripple Booting Newbie. Solved

So I crashed my system double booting. Never mind, it was a learning experience. Now I'm trying to triple boot. I have Win 7 on my C drive, Data on D drive, and I'm splitting the third drive between Mint 14 Xfce and SolydX. I already have a swap file, so can I just point the installer to the Free sp...

Re: Grub 2 - edit menu

Thanks, I am still distro surfing. Tried about six today. This seems the nicest so far. My previous linux experience is very limited. It is great the way you guys answer questions, cause I'll probably have several.

So now that someone else has done all the hard work, could they post the deb (installer for Grub Customizer) so we could use it or do we have to make our own. :?: It's not that I'm lazy...

USB Live

I created the USB Live using unetbootin as per instructions and it works fine. However, if I try to use YUMI and add SolydX to a multiboot USB pendrive, it will allow me to select SolydX and attempt to boot, but then it crashes after the grey screen with the orange progress bar. It drops back to a b...
