Re: Ready for Testing: solydxk-usb-creator

Have done a little more testing. Is this correct? Step by step instructions for first use: SolydXK Multi-Boot USB Creator 1. Auto-Mount 2. Run Total Clean 3. Run Boot Loader (Please confirm you wish to install grub on the device /dev/sdd)(yours may be different) Yes A couple of times the program has...

Re: solydxbe_201407.iso, mouse at usb3 ok but usb2 nok

# apt-get install grub-imageboot
# cd /boot; mkdir images
# cp ./solydxbe_201407.iso /boot/images/
# update-grub
# reboot
I've never used that method. Is that what they call a "frugal install". I've never tried that either. So much for me to learn.

Re: Ready for Testing: solydxk-usb-creator

This is strange. You should not have needed to run gparted as the clean should have done the necessary. Can you provide some detail as to what you were using for a USB device and what was one it before and what partition table, and file system? Whatever I might need to duplicate the conditions. Sor...

Re: Ready for Testing: solydxk-usb-creator

Second try. Installed solydxk-usb-creator_0.1.06_all.deb, on my real hard drive install of SolydX64. Used Gdebi and did not get the "gdebi crashed with a segfault after installation" that others got. All dependencies are satisfied, installed fine. Plunged blindly ahead without reading instructions. ...

Re: Kademar Version 5

Sorry I did not make myself clear. If you are installing from one Flash drive, you can not install to the same flash drive. You have to install from one flash drive, a DVD or a hard drive install, to a different location. The final product is only one flash drive.

SolydX BE on a liveUSB Installed with GDebi, shows up in the menu under system. Click on it and nothing happens. Will try it on my installed version of SolydX64 soon. Perhaps you could put SolydXK on a USB drive and mail it to him. He can take it for a test drive and run HardInfo to find out the hardware info for you.

Re: solydxbe_201407.iso, mouse at usb3 ok but usb2 nok

I have the same mouse, it is great for people with big hands by the way, I'll download and test it. Is a Live USB test ok or does the problem only occur on hard drive install? My computer is kind of old, the motherboard only had USB2 built in, but I have a USB3 add in card. Off topic, I can only boo...

Re: [Request] Pale Moon

I just tried using the (Pale Moon Installer) pminstaller-0.1.5.tar.bz2 from the sourceforge link. http://sourceforge.net/projects/pm4linux/files/ in SolydX64. Palemoon installs fine, but the conflict with the GTK2 theme, oxygen-gtk still has not been fixed. I switched to the Adwaita theme and then i...

Re: USB Wifi card

You may want to check the wireless channels on your router to see if one of the other channels works better. Also repositioning the wireless dongle with a USB extension may help. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833997218 http://images17.newegg.com/is/image/newegg/33-997-218-TS?...

Re: USB Wifi card

The name, brand-model number-version of the wifi card would help. The important part is the chipset. I think you have a card based on the Realtek RTL8188EUS Chipset. https://wiki.debian.org/rtl819x https://packages.debian.org/wheezy/all/firmware-realtek/download If the "Device Driver Manager" does n...

Re: Network Manager has no connections but my network works?

I had the same thing happen to me when I was testing OpenSuse Factory Xfce. Network manager says you are not connected, but you really are connected. If that is a feature they can keep it. What is the point of having an icon that lies to you? What is next, a clock that shows random times, an update ...

Re: SolydXK "Stable" vs LMDE "Stable"

the main differentiator between distros based on Debian Stable is primarily the default Desktop Environments. In the case of SolydXK these are XFCE and KDE, while with LMDE these are Mate and Cinnamon. In a few years when Mate and Cinnamon become as easy to use as Xfce, I will probably give them an...

Re: Distrowatch review

SolydXK's Xfce edition presents a more conservative style. Many may find this classic style appealing, even preferable, but I found it made SolydXK feel slightly out of date. [rantI find the classic style appealing. Do we need flashy spinning cubes or neon tool-bars. Compare the beauty of SolydX to...
