Re: Making SolydXK an audio production system

any of these will hit Testing and our HE's first or will these skip Debian Testing and go straight to Jesse stable? I would think/like it would get dropped in Testing first. Or is that in our Oct. UP? Stable is a snapshot of Testing in the day Debian decides that "we might as well release it". mean...

Re: UP 2014.10.15

@lilgman i can answer 1. xiphos was removed from testing due to this bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=747784 (solved in v.3.2.2) re-entered testing again on the 2014-09-30 meaning that on Oct 1st when we took the snapshot that would be the Oct UP it was not in the mirrors. in sh...

Re: UPGRADE 201410 erase my hundred of my kde softwares

I have succeeded this upgrade with APPER and not use pre-script... What is happened ? to be honest, it's difficult to know. it's difficult to know how apper messed up the update and how the fact that you didn't use the pre-update script had influence in this disaster. we publish very clear notes fo...

Re: Remove systemd, return to sysvinit

Quite to tell you the truth, if SolydXK is running systemd, I really didn't notice a change. As for me for the most part, since it runs well, I'm not really complaining. My daily computing activities are not any different..... I thought Schoelje moved the home edition to systemd a while back ? the ...

Re: Now they want to fork Debian?

For first time something is locked in Debian. you have kFreeBSD (it's still debian) Jessie is definitely a goner... because of systemd? i know how you feel about it but  Systemd and sysvinit are switchable init systems per se. You should be able switch from one to the other at first instance,...

Re: SolydK's update package/mechanism

yes, it's true.
in both my SolydK (32 and 64bit) VM's fully updated

Code: Select all

dpkg -l | grep packagekit
returns nothing.

and is also true that we have synaptic installed in all versions| editions as well as software manager (and of course updatemanager)

Re: Now they want to fork Debian?

we probably heard completely different podcasts: as it was pointed out there (and is also my belief) think about this expression for awhile
FORKING DEBIAN
1. what are they going to fork? the whole Project? all the archs and all the software? and rebuild it when need to work with sysv in...

Re: PgAdmin not in repos?

at this point in time i don't think is a good idea to download the wheezy version (between SolydXK and wheezy there's almost 2 years difference of development, the closest version would be the sid version) i also don't think is a good idea to download the debs and install them with gdebi; you will, ...

Re: [Solved] Some software removed post UP and now uninstala

the problem with vlc & cia (yesterday) was more easily solved by aptitude than it would have been by apt because aptitude's resolver is more aggressive and keeps on trying to find solutions to the task you give it (the drawback is that sometimes it is too aggressive and might propose you a solution ...
