Re: SolydC - How to add Cinnamon 2.0 to SolydXK
It appears the issues with many unneeded gnome pkgs being install along with Cinnamon 2.0 (on LMDE) is know by Clem (Mint Dev) and is being worked on. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=187&t=156044&start=180#p818004 However the --no-install-recommends option. does not work on SolydXK (for ...

Re: SolydC - How to add Cinnamon 2.0 to SolydXK
I am back to a full Cinnamon 2.0 DE. I does not work for me with (--no recommends). I have to do the full Cinnamon install as per OP.. (with all the Gnome extras). I did successfully remove nautilus but still have gnome-shell plus a whole lot of unnecessary gnome pkgs. Workable, but not a comp...

That is good news. I see cinnamon-session-common. I assume that's what lets you see and choose 'cinnamon' in log on window. I may just give it another try...

Hi 'sounds...'
I use Avant-window-navigator (Awn) I got it from SID, unfortunately it no longer seems available in Debian.
'Docky' or 'Cairo Dock' are alternatives.

Re: A Synaptic query
..... I plan soon to do a complete reinstall soon in the hope of getting rid of some annoying Udev problems. There's a much easier method: If you want to do a re-installation and you want that new installation to reflect your current installation (but with new, fresh, unaltered config files) then y...

Re: SolydC - How to add Cinnamon 2.0 to SolydXK
Hi 'zz'.. :) Yes, sorry, that was just a stab in the dark.. Now makes sense to me that since SolydXK on tracks its own repos, no preferences file is needed. I may try again when I get the bug. First removing most anything Gnome to see if that helps things. My Manjaro installation (arch based) instal...

Re: A question concerning testing
OK guys I think I understand all that and thanks. So what you are saying then is we have 15 days to test possible over 300 updates coming from Debian Testing before we go into production. ......... Re: A question concerning testing
Not sure exactly what you mean... :P How about SolydXK tracking a straight Debian Testing? Its what I run. I am not a fan of UP's. Daily updates with small downloads better suits me. gene@solydx:~$ inxi -r Repos: Active apt sources in file: /etc/apt/sources.list deb http://packages.solydxk.com/testi...

Re: LibreOffice as default office package in SolydX
Well I guess I have to stand up for the loyal opposition ... Too much useless stuff for me. Abiword and Gnumeric are more than enough. I also get aggravated with the numerous constant upgrades (and huge downloads) that seem to occur way to often with LibreOffice. Its a simple enough upgrade fo...

I would say Yes. ( I would Read all the link.) You can always 'uncheck it' if there are issues, but I have been using it (Nvidia) for 2 weeks with no issues.

Re: Usage of Sid/Unstable repos with SolydXK
Very nice.. :) Going to use this (apt-pinning) method on my SolydX tracking Debian Testing , rather than periodically enabling/disabling "SID" repo as I had been in the past. Thanks. Just as a side note, I have been running Siduction XFCE (Debian SID) for about 6 months with daily updates with no is...

Interesting software. Its available in Debian Stable and SID , but not in testing . You could get it from SID or wait till it trickels down to testing and the new SolydXK UP. http://packages.debian.org/search?suite=all§ion=all&arch=any&searchon=names&keywords=gramps Or install deb as per smackth...
