Re: I am another one of those who have a blank screen at sta

Alright, but that is impossible... Do... What options do I have? Just live with it or reinstall? This is up to you. As you have said that the Live DVD runs OK I recommend reinstalling to ensure that you have a common baseline. If you still have problems I suggest you post a new thread to these foru...

Re: I am another one of those who have a blank screen at sta

Firstly, welcome to SolydXK forums. If we are to help you then you will need to provide more specific information. For example: Solydx 32bit on a toshiba laptop Which model? It seems to be a common problem there are tons of threads about it, but none of the current solutions works for me. We cannot ...

Re: After boot-up in live mode the desktop is blank & unusab

QMarshall: Thank you for the useful output but I also asked you to advise if "Following this installation has SolydK actually booted to a normal, operational, desktop?" In other words, has your current installation of SolydK ever worked properly. If so then advise at what point things went wrong - w...

QMarshall: I am still not clear what you are doing. Are you trying to run a SolydXK Live DVD or have you now got SolydXK properly installed on your PC hard drive?

Fargo: See the "Create SolydXK USB Tutorial".

Personally, I prefer the "old school" dd command (you may need the sudo prefix). Just remember that "dd" isn't called the "disk destroyer" for nothing! Use it carefully. ;-)

Re: How to switch from Desktop to Terminal and back

QMarshall: If this question relates to your thread " After boot-up in live mode the desktop is blank & unusable " then I suggest you request a mod move this thread there - it is not helpful to have multiple threads related to the same problem. However, to answer this specific question, a default Sol...

When I used NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS on my previous PC it worked fine and desktop was usable but after I changed to Quad Core & NVIDIA Geforce 6600 the desktop is blank & unusable. I suppose it can't be driver problem as I using Live mode so what can it be and how do i solve this problem. Both the th...

Re: UP process change

IMHO, it is highly unlikely that any SolydXK user will become a victim of a critical security breach! While it is true that software is continually being updated to close security holes, the packages currently installed by SolydXK are already extremely secure. I'm afraid that I have to disagree wit...

Re: UP process change

...KDE point releases, like 4.11.x or 4.12.x, where only the x is changed, in my view should be part of the security updates that come in between of UPs. 3 months of time is major in such context and KDE team releases updates every month with critical security / other bug fixes. Not having these as...

Re: Installer does not reformat partition chosen as /home

@Zill - I do (have done) exactly the same thing. But, I would like to think I'm no longer a rank novice at this sort of thing and SolydXK is "Linux made easy" so .... if there's a reliable way to make this easy (or at least easier), it might be worth looking into. I agree with the SolydXK principle...

I temporarily installed python-gi-cairo but my catfish v0.8.2 still refused to work! As I actually have no need for catfish I haven't gone so far as installing v1.0.0.

Re: Catfish doesn't find any files.

LibreOffice and Chromium are installed on my SolydX 32-bit system, as are Gnumeric and Abiword. TBH, I doubt if installing or removing other (unrelated) applications can affect catfish. As I suggested before, upgrading catfish from v0.8.2 to v1.0.0 may well fix the problem.
