Re: Whisker Menu option not available

GeneC: My standard SolydX (201311) updated with Update Pack 2014.01.15 does not have the same Whisker Menu options you have shown. There is no option to "Edit Applications" in either the "Behaviour" or the "Commands" tab: Whisker Behaviour.png Whisker Commands.png Has anyone got any ideas on the rec...

Re: [quit working] Installation of DraftSight (CAD package)

I downloaded the UBUNTU version by clicking on the UBUNTU link on the draftsight website, and then unpacked the files nad they installed perfectly and it runs perfectly by clicking on the icon in the list of software... Please be aware that Ubuntu is very different to SolydXK and that, while it is ...

PPAs are for Ubuntu. SolydXK is not Ubuntu!

Trying to shoehorn Ubuntu PPAs into SolydXK is just likely to end in tears. :(

Re: UP 2014.01.15 [PRODUCTION]

Just installed UP 2014.01.15 on my SolydX 386 system and it went very smoothly so my thanks go to all concerned. I had previously edited my /etc/pam.d/common-session to change default umask from 022 to 002 so I expected this to be flagged up during the upgrade. The only unexpected warning was that /...

Re: Userbars

The Userbars look very impressive and thank you to all concerned. If anyone is interested, it is quite simple to turn these into hyperlinks to your favourite distro. Simply add the website address to the userbar tags and contain it all within URL tags. e.g. [url=http://solydxk.com/homeedition/solydx...

Re: Where is the network config tool ?

rolgiati: It really shouldn't be necessary to install both N-M and Wicd. Just choose the one which best meets your requirements and stick with it. Note that neither GUI manager is actually necessary if you only use a wired connection. My understanding is that they cannot both be installed but if you...

Re: Where is the network config tool ?

Maybe a stupid suggestion: Why not have both NM and Wicd in the default install ? They conflict - you can only have one network manager running. However, it may be possible to have this as a user-choice after installation of SolydX. Unfortunately, I don't think this would be advisable as it would a...

Re: Where is the network config tool ?

rolgiati: In order to investigate this further it would be helpful if you would do the following: Boot from your solydx64_201311.iso and then run SolydX as a live dvd (not from the hdd) so that you are running a default system. Ensure your PC is connected to your (working) modem/router via an ethern...

Re: Where is the network config tool ?

rolgiati: By default, SolydX uses the GUI NetworkManager applet and so you should be able to enter any required configuration settings for wired or wireless networking into this. It should be running as an icon at the bottom right of the panel. However, for a wired connection, this is not actually n...

Re: Sharing Files using NFS

These directories can each be exported with NFS but the other PC must then mount this to a different location, suc...
