Re: Any ETA on SolydXK 9 - advice on new install

... I'd really like to just get him setup with SolydK 9 so he doesn't have to deal with any updates in the next few months and he will have the lastest. But is SolydK 9 anywhere near production ready? I only see him a couple times a year so I wanted to get him setup with the latest right now rather...

Re: Cannot launch fresh installed SolydK due to kernel panic

I would be surprised if this issue is related to btrfs as, for many years, I used reiserfs when most of the Linux world was using ext2/ext3. I never hit any problems then that implied any incompatibility between different Linux filesystem formats. However, times change and so it may be that btrfs is...

Re: Cannot launch fresh installed SolydK due to kernel panic

dimitriv: Firstly, let me welcome you to SolydXK forums and I trust that you will (eventually!) enjoy using this great distro. If you would like to post in the " Introduce yourself " section it will be great to hear a bit more about who you are and how you got here! I am sorry the installation of So...

Re: Installing EE and transforming it to stable when it is released

... Last year I have worked on EE quite some time and at that time it was "stable" already so I am not worried it won't be stable now... No, to reiterate grizzler's point, EE has never been and never will be "stable". The Debian testing branch exists solely to test and debug the next stable release...

Re: Only boots up with Sysvinit

Ensure you have a backup of your original "/etc/default/grub". Then open a terminal and start the nano editor by entering the following: sudo nano /etc/default/grub Then add "init=/lib/sysvinit/init" to the line "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT" so that it reads as follows: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="in...

Re: Only boots up with Sysvinit

Fargo: Much as I would like to help track down this problem, I really don't have a clue where systemd is concerned - and probably not with much else either! ;-) I tend to use the "infinite number of monkeys and typewriters" approach and hope that, eventually, I will hit the right solution! Anyway, a...

Re: Only boots up with Sysvinit

... I think I may need to take the advice of kurotsugi and just boot into sysvinit until the new release and then update the system and see what happens. I'm ok to do that if you think my issue is still just a systemd issue and not something more serious. Unless you really enjoy delving into the in...

Re: Only boots up with Sysvinit

... I have no idea what inxi is, but I'm going to guess that it shows SysVinit because that is the option I had to choose in Grub to get my system to boot. When I boot with the normal SolydK entry, I end up in some emergency prompt in the command line. Your symlink "sbin/init" looks correct to me. ...

Re: Only boots up with Sysvinit

Very strange. Both "systemd" and "systemd-sysv" now seem to be correctly installed but inxi still shows "Init: SysVinit". :? Please post the output of the following command: ls -l /sbin/init If this shows the correct symlink then maybe the problem is elsewhere, such as with grub2. However, I am off ...

Re: Only boots up with Sysvinit

Package " systemd-sysv " provides the manual pages and links needed for systemd to replace sysvinit. Installing systemd-sysv will overwrite /sbin/init with a link to systemd. As this package may have become corrupted, I suggest you open a terminal and reinstall this package with the following two co...

Re: Only boots up with Sysvinit

I suggest you first check for broken packages. Open a terminal and enter the following three commands:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get -f install
Then reboot and post the full output of the following four commands:

Code: Select all

inxi -Frxz
apt policy systemd
apt update
apt upgrade

Re: Problem with boot by pen drive

While unetbootin may work OK, this application has a history of problems with ISOs built using isohybrid techniques. See Debian documentation " How do I write a CD/DVD/BD image to a USB flash drive? "... Please note, that Debian advises not using unetbootin for this task. It can cause difficult-to-d...

But now I have problems getting the boot from the pen, I've tried with UEFI disabled and activated, but I still do not have the boot on the pen. I have never used "Yumi" so cannot comment on this utility. I much prefer the "old-s...
