Re: Important SolydXK news

Been a great ride and wonder to watch it grow and thrive with the outstanding family here. Hope it continues on and members that are a part of the SolydXK process may feel sadden. But also feel proud to be givers to a community. Those like Arjen & Zerozero,Hinto,fleabus,RavenLX,patzy,Grizzler,Snap,S...

Re: Kali Linux Repos

I would never even consider mixing repo's as can lead to all kinds of problems.
Short fix would be search for specific penetration tools in synaptic in SolydK repo's.
I wouldn't be surprised if most if not all can be installed from current repo's.

Re: 201411 ISO won't go live

Give me a count and what you want for them? I don't care about that, I was just gonna send them along. There's about a half a spindle left, and you're welcome to them. If your burner likes them, then I'd rather they went where they'll be useful... You can PM or email where to send them? fleabus at ...

Re: 201411 ISO won't go live

@Patzy, I have never used K3b, I really need to get into it... @Orb, Have you ever set your K3b permissions? I never messed with that... Generally I create ISOs with DeVeDe or DVDStyler then burn with Xfburn... I should send you the Verbatims, as they seem to work ok for you? They're yours if you w...

Re: 201411 ISO won't go live

Hmmm don't know what the issue could be as I still burn many DVD's and at max. burn speed without issues. 1) Always check MD5 checksum. And usually number 1 issues is bad download. Even from multiple locations as could be a local ISP issue between you and the servers. 2) My burns are burned at 22x w...

Re: Anyone using wine for anything

Yep use DVDshrink & Evernote in wine without issue. Tho manually have to mount dvd first in Dolphin before DvdShrink will see it. If I had quad-core and at least 6gb of ram would probably go the VB route. Which did work on my older dual-core and 4gb of ram. But was a little bit slow with those specs...

Re: No Sound in SolydK After Using Windows!

I have always had to go into audio setup and move built-in audio above HDMI as default in Device prefs. Then go everywhere else in Kmix like audio hardware setup and select built-in as default device. And for some reason had to do it multiple times before the settings stuck. And no Windows didn't do...

Re: [Talk] Things to do after installing SolydK

Instead of Amarok find Clementine a great alternative and seems to fit well into the KDE family. Conky of course tho use a simple conky. yaWP weather applet in tray. Nice popup weather with radar maps. Tho yaWP also seems to be falling to the wayside. Go for darker themes and use Evolvere dark icons...

Re: How do you remove systemd and use sysvinit?

Disable a Service From Starting at Boot Example: Disable Cups starting up on boot $ sudo systemctl disable cups rm '/etc/systemd/system/printer.target.wants/cups.service' rm '/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/cups.path' rm '/etc/systemd/system/sockets.target.wants/cups.socket' So seems nee...

Re: HOW TO: Remove systemd and use sysvinit

Also, you can't completely get rid of systemd on Debian any more... Package: bsdutils This package contains the bare minimum of BSD utilities needed for a Debian system: logger, renice, script, scriptreplay, and wall. The remaining standard BSD utilities are provided by bsdmainutils. Description-md...

Re: Getting back missing system tray entries?

I can launch it fine and it shows in system tray. But looks like I need to add it to Autostart programs also.
Which I just did. So will see next time I boot up. Don't remember if it is a default in SolydXK as is in other distro's a default to run in systray.

Getting back missing system tray entries?

Getting back missing system tray entries? Yep so easy to delete them. No way to get them back? As had a klipper entry but no more and thought to have it run in systray. http://i.imgur.com/gaZBCxx.jpg http://i.imgur.com/MWb2hJW.jpg Anyway to recover back to a default? Why are they so easy to delete w...

Re: HOW TO: Remove systemd and use sysvinit

Just curious if anyone knows why Debian is so entrenched and tied into systemd? Is it because of their default going Gnome choice? Wow Orb, that's seriously a really good one. It's been/being discussed, hashed, rehashed, and hammered to death all over the forums and mailing lists. The signal to noi...

Re: Firefox crashes

So maybe this is why the issue is happening in VMs and not in metal installs... I still don't get how the drivers works in VMs. I never installed proprietary drives in them since having the propriretary Nvidia into the host makes them work good. Supposedly all these machines have the Nouveau driver...

Re: Firefox crashes

Seems googling the error Glib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed Brings up this recurring bug. And appears to be related to proprietary video driver versions vs. FF versions out of sync? Or would be my first suspect being proprietary video drivers and some setting...

Thanks for sharing! ;) Yep and Documentary about him just released 24 October 2014 .
