Re: Strange behavior of dolphin find search

No idea. It's the first time I see a baloo line into that file. But I have zero experience with baloo. Perhaps it's normal. Is it? My guess is that in your system baloo replaced nepomuk at some point so that's why it shows as nepomuk services already migrated to baloo. That's my guess also. And res...

Imagewriter Works?

Have never used before. But thought I would give it a go on creating a bootable usb. Well just seems to hang for me. Plugged in a formatted 2gb usb key. Selected an iso from my Iso's folder on my external ntfs drive. Pointed it at the 2gb usb key. Can see imagewriter unmount the usb key in dolphin t...

Re: Why Dual core showing different Mhz.?

it's even better to disable these features in the bios.
Yep checked that as do intensive photo editing. And use Vlc to convert mp4's into .avi that my tabletop dvd player can handle thru a usb stick. And DVDshring thru wine to rip DVD movies.

Re: Strange behavior of dolphin find search

added the nepomukserverrc file and now it works. Strange that you had to add it? As was just there in mine. And don't use any indexing as had in disabled in System Settings before. But now can't find that indexing enabled/disabled flag in system settings. My nepomukservercc in my home .kde/share/co...

Re: updatemanager theme is messed up

If that doesn't work. Then I would just uninstall it. Then re-intall to get back the default config files. And I never delete config files. I rename them with old-xxxx.config with old- tacked onto the front of file. That way I can roll it back. Also backing up config files to another non-linux locat...

Re: Why Dual core showing different Mhz.?

Ahhh thanks zerozero! Scaling that was it and one of my burned out neuron flickered and glowed for a minute! :o

Code: Select all

watch grep \"cpu MHz\" /proc/cpuinfo
Can watch changes in real time as you run stuff.

Re: Why Dual core showing different Mhz.?

Yep but yours seem closer to same level across the board. And to think I was a computer repair and build tech for 25 years. And now I can't even remember about this. Must be specific packet of neurons were depreciated and removed in my 1999 system downgrade

Why Dual core showing different Mhz.?

Just noticed when I did a inxi -F that both cores are showing significant different clock speeds. CPU: Dual core AMD Athlon II X2 250 (-MCP-) cache: 2048 KB Clock Speeds: 1: 800 MHz 2: 3000 MHz Is this normal? Accurate for idling? Tried Google but couldn't extract any info about it. Know it's just i...

Re: Since Oct. 2014 update NTFS Config tool no longer works.

NTFS Config tool no longer works? Wondering if other's can check if their KDE Ntfs Configuration tool in System>Ntfs Configuration tool works for them? And wonder if this is a universal problem or just me. Starts to load and then terminates. Running in terminal orbmiser@winterfell ~ $ sudo ntfs-conf...

Re: UP 2014.10.15

Still didn't understand how to move var/tpm up to root? Just copy contents of var/tmp to /tmp? No, simply do sudo rm /tmp sudo mv /var/tmp /tmp sudo mkdir -m 1777 /var/tmp Also, I know of at least one application that expects to find its stuff in /var/tmp rather than /tmp, so if after the move ment...

Re: UP 2014.10.15

sudo mkdir /tmp Better make that sudo mkdir -m 01777 /tmp or the permissons won't be set correctly which could lead to all kinds of problems. Actually, if /tmp is a link to /var/tmp, deleting the link, renaming /var/tmp to /tmp and creating a new /var/tmp would be a better solution, as that would l...

Re: UP 2014.10.15

EDIT: I'm probably responsible for linking /tmp to /var/tmp, I've upgraded two other machines without this issue. The only machine with this problem has an SSD and I usually redirect /tmp to tmpfs in fstab to spare the SSD from unnecessary wear, but I was probably lazy and just linked it to /var/tm...
