Re: New rewiev SolydX from Linuxed

Simple, effective and efficient, as good as Linux Mint!
Congrats! SolydXK and to Xfce users.

Sad thing tho it seems 3 out 4 blog reviews or even youtube vids seems about xfce.
And only a splattering of KDE reviews. Would like to see more KDE reviews. :o

Re: Feature requests: Wine 1.6 and Android MTP Support, etc.

All I had to do in SolydK was install kio-mtp from the repos. For my Dolphin file browser mounts it and can access it fine. Access to MTP devices for applications using the KDE Platform This package includes the MTP KIO plugin. It allows applications using the KDE Platform to access files stored on ...

Re: Install with existing /home

I want to install SolydX on my Debian 7 Lxde netbook and keep my /home partition Is it safe to mount that partion at /home and keep the format option empty? Yep that is the default way with SolydK for me it auto-selected /home assigned it. And un-checked the format option for me. Was on Mint 15 KDE...

zerozero wrote:+1 also for yakuake 8-)
+1 also as latest 2.9.9-2? was in the repo.

Added to autostart and disabled the terminal notifications on startup.

But looking around couldn't find where to reassign the f12 key? possible to assign to SuperWin key?
Otherwise works great thanks for the head's Up!

Re: SolydXK-conky Removal

Which desktop Xfece or KDE?

In KDE just go System Settings>Startup and Shutdown and uncheck conky so it's not started on startup.

Also there are many other Conky scripts for supplying any info you may need on the desktop.

Mine is text based giving Date/Time and System info.

Re: Best KDE Distro by Dedoimedo (in Netrunner Mag)

Yes, this lets me switch in a seemless manner. is in the default solydK installation For me on dual displays with 3 Virtual workspaces find it easier to just mouse wheel turn to workspace and apps that are open is much faster for me. As no need for precise mouse navigation and clicking to get to op...

Re: SolydK - add Kdenlive

@orbmiser Could you start a new topic here to replace kipi-plugins and hugin (I think that's what you are referring to), and replace it by darktable, including the arguments you just gave. Sorry about that and wasn't thinking about it hijacking your thread! :? And thanks and started a thread about ...

Replace some of the graphics programs with darktable

Remove and replace with darktable I'm a photographer and I don't use 75% of the programs listed there. And was quite taken back to the number of programs many with quite specific and specialized functions not used by many photographers as well as by most users? And would rather see darktable there a...

Tho in principle I agree not adding to much to minimize the bloat. Makes me wonder about the graphics category? I'm a photographer and I don't use 75% of the programs listed there. Re: Few questions about SolydXK

One more question why SolyXK is based on testing rather than Debian stable . BTW I am planning to install SolydXK on computers given to a school and I will be using X version of the distro Yes but with a caveat it is a semi-rolling testing. Which means it comes out with monthly update packs after t...

Yep +1 to the SolydXK Team! Congrats and Well Deserved! Been watching it rise in the distro as just a loose indicator of popularity. And saw it break the 100 mark beginning of Sept. 82 last (6 months) as of Sept. 15th. 80 last (6 months) as of Sept. 22nd. 77 (6 months) as of Sept. 23rd. 71 (6 months...

Re: Installing Win 7 next to SolydK

Yep EasyBCD could work but you would have to have installed your bootloader where root is. My situation my root is sda5 so during the install I had to explicitly state to load the grub to sda5 instead of default of sda1. Two fold problem here as windows mbr always assumes no other OS so overwrites t...

Cool makes it even more viable alternative on less capable machines with only 2gb of ram.
And shrinking the gap of those other lightweight distro's.

Resource hog? I think not! :o

Use folders encrypted with Truecrypt as cross platform and portable. Nice to see other alternatives out there for linux. And fulfills other's needs.
