Re: Nightly builds

Agreed with the md5sum file format. It's reversed as it's commonly found anywhere else. Not a big issue, but...

Re: Microsoft Celebrates Debian Jessie Release!

MS needs to do something. Going Open Source or whatever they mange to figure out. Google is winning the computing game by far. They still lead and rule on desktops (A constantly shrinking niche). The mobile world now belongs to Google. They're not the biggest one anymore. What actually concerns me a...

BTW, they waited to upgrade LibreOffice for the last day. I guess to get the newest possible one.

Re: Breakages and News tracking Debian Testing

Those 47 are affecting Jessie and Sid. These are only for Jessie. Just 10 https://udd.debian.org/bugs/?release=jessie_not_sid&merged=ign&fnewerval=7&rc=1&sortby=id&sorto=asc&chints=1&ctags=1&cdeferred=1&crttags=1 Anyway, I don't think tomorrow the folks will go to sleep for two years. And also it de...

Re: Virtual Box anomaly

Sorry to be late here. Yes, the VB 4.3.18 was troublesome. It started to behave well again on 4.3.20. Every time you update VB you need to download and reinstall the matching guest additions iso in all the virtual machines. It doesn't take a lot of time... unless you have 25 VMs like me.

Re: SolydXK trend

Well, all the installs I've made worked sluggish and showing bugs (KaOS, Arch, Manjaro and Siduction). Of course KF5 is still too new and will need polishing. But it's not that. It the damn fashion of making everything huge, and in the way. One of the reasons why I like Kwin and the main KDE apps is...

Re: SolydXK trend

well-working islands in a modern linux world, which seems to go crazy with gnome 3.16 that breaks everything in gtk world, plasma 5, which breaks everything in kde world, with mate which prepares for gtk+3, to break everything. Aaah, yes. The GTK3 nightmare. Really tired of it, and now we have KF5....

Re: Strange artefact in update manager

It always works for me. It works in the buntus too because it's the way apt works.

If that oneliner doesn't work maybe there's something wrong with your package manager beyond the update manager itself.

Re: Problems with dual monitors

I've read somewhere that there are some problems with the Intel drivers lately, which typically are the most trouble free in Linux... I'm afraid it's not a KDE specific issue. Sorry for not being of more help. I only have a little experience with these GPUs. Do some searches on the web. You should f...

Re: SolydXK trend

My guess is that everything smoothed out since we started moving to stable, and more since the freeze started. Just one day off from the release now, I think it's pretty normal that users don't come around with problems since Solyd is running pretty smooth already. About the hits... who cares. Still...

I chose Remmina for both X and K because it supports the NX protocol and it performs better than krdc.

Re: Regenerate KDE Menu

No idea if there's an app that does that, but you should get back to defaults renaming the needed config file. I don't know if there's more than kmenueditrc involved. Never tried it, but that file would be the first thing to try.

Re: Nouveau & KDE

RavenLX. I have no problems actually. I'm fine with the Nvidia drivers. I mean, I found (with surprise) that the issue I was having with nouveau drivers only happens with KDE. At least lately. I cannot remember if anything else had the problem a year ago. But that's what a found a couple of days ago...

Re: Nouveau & KDE

I don't think these are related. I've been having issues with my GPU and nouveau drivers for a year long. I need Nvidia ones. No other way. But what surprised me it's that only affects KDE distros. With other DEs or WMs, the GPU fan spins like crazy but the graphics display right. With KDE and Nouve...

Nouveau & KDE

I've tried both 32 and 64 bit testing live isos (not install, just live) on both my computer and a 2008 HP laptop with an ATI GPU. No issues on the laptop, but the Nouveau drivers on KDE versions keep working wrong in my PC. Not solydX. Just SolydK. Weird. It's not a SolydXK issue. It's a KDE + Nouv...
