Re: Newbie with several problems

OK, Please note that it is easier to just copy the command and paste to your terminal. this way had much less chance of getting typo error Next command is 3. xrandr --newmode "1360x768_60.00" 84.75 1360 1432 1568 1776 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync Follow by next command 4. xrandr --addmode VGA-1 "13...

Re: Newbie with several problems

but I think if I could change my resolution from 1366 x 768 to 1360 x 768 that would fix it. But I don't have the option for 1360. Is there a way I can get it? You might wish to try with xrandr to set resolution of your choice. More details are in this thread: http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php...

Re: [Solved] System boot hangs on old hardware

However, I get I low resolution 1024x768 and cannot change this. How can I fix this issue? Try xrandr. You can try it while running Live or Installed. Note that xrandr will not stick after a logout or reboot. If xrandr works on your hardware, you may proceed to make it stick after a logout-n-re-log...

Re: [SOLVED] PaleMoon Won't Launch

@Night_Wing, I am glad you manage to create palemoon launcher in xfce panel by clicking. BTW, would you know a trick to put the blue colored icon Pale Moon icon on the Desktop without using the terminal? I'm pretty sure that is a menu item and the terminal is the only way to do this. Just thought I'...

Re: PaleMoon Won't Launch

Hi Night_Wing, Just do it step by step. I shall type all steps here in XFCE. 1. Right Click Applications Menu > Panel > Add New Items... 2. On the pop up windows, left-click Launcher, then move cursor down to left-click Add you should see a launcher icon ( i called it 'new icon') appear on Panel. th...

Re: PaleMoon Won't Launch

I then extracted the "palemoon" folder from the tarball to my Desktop. I then opened the folder and scrolled on down to the subfolder named "palemoon". I right clicked on this file and when the box popped up, I left clicked on "execute" and Pale Moon launched and ran just fine. I then made sure all...

Re: Is this hard disk going to end its life?

Thanks all for the responses. It turned out that it is much easier to use Windows utilities to scan as well as Seagate SeaTools ( available free in their website in both WinOS or DOS ) to scan for the defect. Because when I did that I do not need to have 'proper partitioning' as used with badblock c...

Recently this Seagate Barracuda hard disk has some hiccup on booting. Copy files to higher G area, something like 600-900G area would have some issue. Slow to response, even crash. SolydK ISO would become a 2.2GB download instead of the current 1.6GB
Huge increase for a very small 'gain'.

My choice is Online and small-size iso.

Re: Old BIOS functions don't work after installed with GRUB

Just my own experience. I had three cases over last 2 years. Similar to your post, I cannot get into bios. One case of Win7. Two cases of Linux OSes. Not SolydXK. Turned out the issues are all related to hardware. 1. The Win7, friend had it not working, cannot boot from ANY media, hard disk, DVD, US...

Re: Any cd sized remasters for old hardware/backup server

Actually you do not need to build a cd version of Solydxk iso. As long as you are using any Windows or Linux OS on the old computer, you can use unetbootin to 'frugal install' onto the hard disk. The process is quite simple, like this 1. boot and run you old machine, WinOS or Lin OS 2. download and ...
