Re: System Settings crashes when opening Workspace Appearanc

In case it helps, running 'kcmshell4 kwindecoration' in the terminal: kwindecoration crashes. Produces the following: kcmshell(5421)/kwin KDecorationPlugins::canLoad: "****** The library /usr/lib/kde4/kwin3_bespin.so has no API version ******" kcmshell(5421)/kwin KDecorationPlugins::canLoad: ****** ...

System Settings crashes when opening Workspace Appearance

After the latest updates today, System Settings crashes when opening Workspace Appearance. The kwin theme options are being rendered when it segfaults.

Re: how to run command at startup or as icon on desktop?

Afraid I don't know about such scripts, but perhaps a look in System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Autostart could help. That appears to offer a way to run scripts and/or desktop files at login if that would work for your needs.

Re: UP 2013.11.06 09:00 UTC [PRODUCTION]

The upgrade seemed to go fine for me this time - whew! - no problems. Good job Schoelje & team. :) But I did see one odd cosmetic thing. I'm posting it here anyway just so you know. The notice of what "packages will be installed" was messed up. I took caps to show it: Example 1 up1.png Example 2 up6...

Re: KColorEdit

It vanished quite a while ago from debian and I don't see it in any recent debian package either. It is in ubuntu, but strangely, I don't see a viable source package to build from.

Re: Recently Installed Apps - Menu option.

Hello, Yes there is such a feature. I don't know how long it's set to show recently installed stuff or if it's adjustable, but here's how to find the option to turn the feature on or off: If you right click the menu button, you should see an "Application Launcher menu settings" option. Click that. I...

Re: Compositing Problem

Like the OP, my sis's PC is also stuck on XRender with OpenGL not functional. This happened after adding packages. I don't know what all the packages were or what was removed in the process, I don't know how to find that out (which is why I haven't wanted to bother anyone here). But I do know that, ...

Re: [Semi-HOWTO] Sound Card / Audio Setup

In case it may help anyone else, if anyone has the sound card I have - ASUS Xonar Essence ST (a top end internal PCI card) - the removal of pulseaudio as per the guide above: sudo apt-get purge pulseaudio* is adviseable at this time. SolydK then defaults to ALSA, which works fine. You can then contr...

Re: Style won't change from Oxygen

believe it or not i've been good part of the night struggling with the same problem. a few days ago i noticed that with bespin (reported here http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=1619&p=16023#p16023), in the meantime i forgot about it but already had enough of oxygen so tonight i tried and...

[Solved] Style won't change from Oxygen

Yes, it is true, I am fussy about the appearance and every few days I like to change the wallpaper and the looks (style, colors, icons etc) to suit it. Fortunately KDE is beautiful and customizable. 8-) But for some reason, the style won't change after the latest update pack (I actually made a fresh...

Re: UP 2013.09.06 06:00 UTC [PRODUCTION]

It is really weird to have similar problems with it on two different PCs when it seems to be working for everyone else! While I would be happy to troubleshoot if I had a box just to test it on, these PCs do need to work. I really like this SolydK concept and I'm sure a lot of hard work has gone into...

Re: UP 2013.09.06 06:00 UTC [PRODUCTION]

Unfortunately, the update has gone rather badly on both my PC and the install on my sisters' PC. :? KDE won't load (to get online I'm using fluxbox, which is working ok). After the splash sticks around a while, a load of bug crash notices (for seemingly everything) come up instead of the desktop. I...

Hiccup after UpdatePack 2013.06.06, res not listed in DPM

Using the update manager, I have updated to the latest UP. As per the instructions, because I need the nvidia kernel (nouveau has always and still freezes the system so I always have to disable it and use nvidia drivers), I ran "sudo apt-get install --reinstall nvidia-kernel-dkms" (same for ndiswrap...
