Internode Mirror Issues [Solved]

I was doing some SolydX installs for people who use the Internode Mirror and have come across a couple of issues for @Schoelje to look at: 1st is; that Internode do not yet appear to have added the new 'community' and 'kdenext' folders to the repository structure. I think you will find that once est...

No, no, no, that's not a typo!! The machine started that way and the amazing thing about SolydXK is that immediately after install it miraculously turned it into 1Gb ram !! Really !

My official typing ability is listed as "4 finger flash" - so sue me?! ;)

Re: KDE Wallet question

Amongst the 1st things I do on any KDE install is go through Systemsettings to get my user setup the way I want - and the 1st two items are turn off Audio Events and Disable Kwallet. Never missed it in years of use and it is one of the REAL resource hogs in low resource scenarios. It was obviously a...

Computer Police Arrest Greywolf

I need your help folks! I need to raise money for my bail after being arrested for Computer speeding! :) Move along, move along, nothing to see here; just reporting my latest SolydXK experiment: 1. Took a standard SolydX iso and installed to 32 bit laptop with only 1MB ram; 2. Changed nothing other ...

Re: Liquorix Kernel experiences

I still use the liquorix kernels on the occasional install. My decisions were purely hardware based. There was a period where the stock Debian kernels just would not boot (or were at least inconsistent) on some of my hardware. I switched to liquorix and problem was solved. However, if there is no is...

What is the variance between 4755 and 0755??

Ray
This is the difference...

Code: Select all

0755 --- None of the special bits set
1755 --- Sticky bit set
2755 --- SGID bit set
4755 --- SUID bit set
Google for sticky,SGID and SUID bits.

Re: SolydX - replace Wicd with NetworkManager

Personally I far prefer Wicd to NM as a network manager; not smaller,"lighter" or anything else, I just find it works better with all connections. I do admit that you should read the manual to understand its full functionality. The one thing it does not yet do is Wireless Modem through phone towers....

Re: LXDE switches to QT

I was seriously hoping Xfce would go this way as well. Gtk3 is a "dog" of a toolkit to work with. I'm not talking about the applications on top of it ( Unity, Shell, Cinnamon etc) but as a toolkit. It seems to be caught up in the whole "dumb it down" phase of development we are in. Oh well, back to ...

Re: Displaying a user icon/avatar on login?

Erf, for me these 2 methods doesn't work  and I really don't understand why... This is not something I would ever spend much time on. Most of my installs boot to a CLI screen; I then use 'startx' command when I need/want the graphical desktop. All I can tell you is that they both work in Arch...

I am not 100% certain I understand what the question is here that we are trying to answer? :? I know, I know, I can be very slow at times! :) I will have a look at this off line to see if I can help? Re: Firefox not current version

I've been using SolydK for a few weeks now, and it's a very useful distro in a lot of ways - you guys have done a great job of taking it beyond the KDE version of LMDE. There just one thing that really doesn't work for me - Firefox 21 was released more than 2 weeks ago, but SolydK is still on 20, a...

You should be pleased with these reviews Schoelje, the word is starting to get out there and it is all pretty positive stuff.
