32bit version

Hi, I'm quite happy with SolydKBE after experimenting also with SolydXK on my two HP microservers and my old main rig. On my old laptop I was also able to run SolydK (i think it was the ISO from September 2013) and SolydX. I stayed with SolydX on this Portege m200 for performance reasons. Now after ...

Re: Debian security flaw - GnuTLS

Last night I ssh'ed into my n40l with SolydK BE and did a sudo apt-get update/upgrade en i think 6 files with similar names were available for upgrading. No idea what the exact security issues are/where. But SolydK BE is Wheezy at the moment.

Re: My SolydX assumes all icons!

A few months ago I played with eyecandy on both SolydX/K, the Nitrux icon folder sometimes was invisible or had it's own color (at least in Dolphin). Don't know if other distro's experience the same with the Nitrux icons.

Re: USB Live

mmm, startpost is almost a year old but... my experience with YUMI is quite different in Linux and Windows. Windows is generally working for me but in Linux (Ubuntu, Debian) YUMI (with gamba installed)) messes up the directory structure on the USB stick. Apart from that some distro's/livecd's are no...

Re: How do I install a scanner

Once I had hplip installed and set up to print, xsane took care of the scanning for me fine. I also switched from HP to Brother. Is hplib dedicated for HP? I just installed the Brother CUPS wrapper and didn't install the scanner drivers yet. I remember from playing with SolydK (now using SolydKBE) ...

Re: libGL.so.1 missing after fglrx-driver install

I had this issue also last weekend with SolydKBE.

I reinstalled SolydKBE completely and used DDM -d and added radeon.modeset=0 to grub.

With LiveCD/USB maybe you can safe your important data within the installation.

Re: from SolydK to SolydKBE

Steam will need the latest libc6, and is available from our Home repositories. Installing Steam will bring in a whole lot of new packages, practically turning your system into a Home edition. not needed but tried to imitate Home on BE... After reinstalling SolydKBE i'm quite happy with the results ...

Re: Pure free SolydK BE/BO

Although that is a good idea from the maintainer's point of view, it is not very user friendly. So, that will change into "solydk_201401.iso", and thus will include the version number. Thank you for this. I'm still happy with the Solyd(X/K/BE) experience but sometimes having troubles finding my way...

Re: smb4k not working

CeeCeez, I compiled smb4k from the source a few months ago while playing with SolydK and Dolphin. I didn't have issues although I didn't use the tool because it didn't do directly what I wanted and decided to mount some shares in my LAN either manually or with a script. Formerly I used fstab and tho...

Thanks for the hint wisemagic.

Googling around found some information but was wondering why there was a difference between X and K?

/media and /media/$USER (solved)

Hi, For different reasons had to reinstall both X (on old laptop) and K (on desktop). K is mounting hdd partitions in /media/'Partitonname' but X is mounting hdd partitions in /media/$USER/'Partitionname'. I thought only for USB devices recently they were mounted in /media/$USER/'USBdevice'? The onl...

Now, this is realy confusing me...I thought I needed guest additions for fullscreen etc.

Re: Somebody able to compile Cantata (mpd client)

zerozero, Thanks again. I did as you explained but still some errors regarding TAGLIB. But I learned a little more about apt-get/synaptic/broken packages, which I like. And I installed plasma-mediacenter 8-) Later this week I will give it another try. I also remember from a few weeks ago that I had ...

Re: Somebody able to compile Cantata (mpd client)

zerozero, Thanks for the tips, although this time I didn't install those libs-dev you mentioned, a few weeks ago I did indeed install all the dependencies based on the output from: cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release as mentioned in the INSTALL file. The...
