Re: Still unable to see other installs

So it found Debian sid and Mageia but doesn't show them in the boot menu? That's strange. Did you check the bootinfoscript report?

+1 against closed source messengers. I'm using Matrix/Riot and I can recommend it. I doubt that we will establish an official channel though.

Don't invest time into stretch. I just wanted to know which ISO is the last working one. And suggest to put them into a separate directory.

Re: SolydX 201902 review on distrowatch

There are actually a lot of reviews on youtube, some more or less useless like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLrfCrO2ruE but also more extensive ones like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JrMAx1bDd0 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVbYwFeaqrA - all positive. Nothing that we'd need to have a cl...

Re: Still unable to see other installs

I've never used grub2-install, so I don't know what would happen. I've always used grub-install. You have to do it from a live system though, not from a running system. A tutorial about repairing EFI boot is here: https://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7468. Does your machine use EFI or not?...

Re: New ISOs in ce/testing

It's never good to have only one person working on a project. Having a second person building and testing is important. Ideally, two persons are not enough, we are already a too small team. If problems come up having somebody knowledgable to discuss it with helps. "Rubber ducky debugging" is really ...

Re: Notepad++ text editor

I used to use Geany but for my Udacity courses I changed to Netbeans since I had to do HTML/CSS/JS and needed the integrated webserver. Netbeans is meant primarily for Java developement and depending upon how much integration you need it might be for you too. Get it from the official site, it's stil...

Re: make partitions persistence

What do you mean by "active and persistent"? Did you install SolydX? From the ISO9660 partition it doesn't look like an installed system. There is nothing "persistent" on a live system, that's the way a live system is meant to be.

Re: Display issue with themes

The settings under the first tab of "Appearances" and "Window Management" (that might not be the correct translation, look for something similar) need to fit together and they usually don't if they are not from the same theme developer. You'll have to edit both. If you look at SolydX standard settin...

Re: Autoremove Error Message

glxinfo in human readable form would be better for me, that's glxinfo -B - I'm not THAT nerdy. :ugeek: It should not do any harm to apt install --reinstall glx-alternative-mesa glx-diversions libegl1 libegl1-mesa libegl-mesa0 . That should trigger update-alternatives. Check that you have these packa...

glx is graphics so info about your systems graphics would be helpful. I'm guessing nVidia? Try glxinfo. The driver install might be broken.

Re: Trouble encountered with KDE taskbar leads to 2 questions

Regarding panel: Ther should be an option to remove the panel at the same spot where you added it. Look around, I'm sure it's there. Since I'm using XFCE I can't tell you where exactly. Regarding okular: You should be able to start okula from the menu or - if its set as standard - just by double cli...

Re: 'system-config-printer' fails to setup one

This is not a common printer - sorry, no idea. Their site says the driver supports Debian 7.1 - all other supported Linux systems are ancient as well. You should check that with Xerox support.

Re: Latest Waterfox Classic and SolydX 9

Thank you for your report. This seems to be a known issue: https://github.com/MrAlex94/Waterfox/issues/1128#issuecomment-573793752 for Ubuntu 18.10. It would help if you reported it on Github for Debian9. It's probably the same for Debian10. I'm still at 1912 and I'll hold off updating. Arjen, could...

Re: Don't start after install a blu-ray player

There might be some incompatibility of AHCI BIOS, kernel and driver. If you search for the error messages you get a ton of hardware-related problems, from bad power supply to "update mainboard bios" to "just ignore it". Diagnostics need physical access to the machine, nothing I can help you with fro...

Re: 'system-config-printer' fails to setup one

First of all: Which type of printer? Most printers need proprietary code which we can't deliver. So printers usually need some investigation before setup will work. Some printers - where the manufacturer doesn't provide linux drivers - will never work. Same for other peripherals. Business models alm...

We have purged exim on newer ISOs but of course its still present on older installs. If you don't need it purging is best.

Re: Laptop: dual boot installation with Win 10

Use Win10 to shrink the partition, don't use Linux. You might have problems shrinking it below 470gb. I'm curios about that. No, ntfs is not the best format. You might encounter problems with data integrity. But since there is no ext4 driver for Win10 afaik, you can't use anything else. With Win7 I ...
