Sorry, no, it crashes when i hit that button. I thought, because you asked me to check if preferences work without checking mirror speed, that you already knew that. My mistake.

I can change the icons though, without a problem.

Re: Update Manager crashes or freezes

I purged the previous version and installed the new. Nothing changed. It still crashes or freezes as before. I only tried to change the icons, but as i see in the console, it seems to perform a server speed test as well, all by itself. Is that normal? This is what i got before it crashed. stelios@Sol...

Update Manager crashes or freezes

I used the update manager to update my SolydK installation to the latest version. Everything worked fine. But after that, the update manager keeps crashing or freezing. If i go to options and then try to change the icons, the file manager comes up and once i try to navigate to the folder i need, it ...

Re: UP 2013.06.06 12:00 UTC

I had a small problem after the last update. I used the update manager to upgrade my SolydK and when it was done, i restarted my PC. After that, i got a blank screen (to be exact my monitor was turned off) just before the login screen. Turns out, somehow the .Xauthority file in my /home directory wa...

Re: Show your Desktop Screenshots

I think tilda is great for certain things, like dmesg tail or top, as in the screenshot below. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17032954/K46-thumb.png Or when you want to enter a command quickly. But when i need to have other windows open, or if the workload is heavier, i go back to Konsole. Tild...

Re: Show your Desktop Screenshots

stelios how do you manage to have the terminal prompt in the desktop like that? looks really cool 8-) I use Tilda. You can find it in the repositories. You can then make the background transparent ( or semi-transparent ) and place it anywhere on your desktop. You can also make it appear and disappe...

Re: SolydXK in Distrowatch!

So, what they really count is how many times the various distro pages at distrowatch are visited per day per ip address.

Which means the 100 distros displayed on the first page, will always get more hits than any other.

Re: SolydXK in Distrowatch!

[EDIT] Now that I think about it, how is the popularity ranked/counted? Apparently by the number of visits. But i have always wondered about that. For example, my user agent String is Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 So how do they know what distro i use? Even mo...

Re: Breakages and News tracking Debian Testing

"We now have a target date of the weekend of 4th/5th May for the release. We have checked with core teams, and this seems to be acceptable for everyone. This means we are able to begin the final preparations for a release of Debian 7.0 — 'Wheezy'. The intention is only to lift the date if something...

players For them, the steam support in SolydXK is a very good point. We have to find the way to convince them. Perhaps with a presence on forum/sites/(...) dedicated for players. Do you know of the sites we could use for this? One could be this http://phoronix.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?22-Gaming A...

Re: Computer restarts itself when left alone

First, try to reinstall the open source drivers. sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri sudo apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-video-ati sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg sudo reboot The first command will most likely fail, because there s...

Re: Sound Card Database

Thanks wayne and 17xeros for the card details. wayne, do you mind checking if model=auto works (basically what 17xeros did)? It seems model=auto and model=generic are the two most common options, but model=auto *seems* to at least attempt to support more cards. I'm curious if it would break the car...
