Re: UP - 30/11/2013 [TESTING]

The question is: do we need a preferences file at all? I never fully understood this file, but perhaps Santa can shed a light on this (he'll be here as soon as he can). Are there files in kdenext that take precedence and their version should remain at an older state than those in testing if needed?...

Re: UP - 30/11/2013 [TESTING]

I changed the sources of my really old SolydK installation to testing (it was installed last December as Unof.LMDE KDE). The last UP applied was the one in November. I did not apply the new upgrades for this installation. Here is what Synaptic tells me. sldkDec-Synaptic.png The packages marked as up...

Re: For KDE users: Animated DreamDesktop

I made a deb file with checkinstall and installed it. It is a resource hog and it seems to suffer from some kind of memory leak. Unfortunately, hardware acceleration through VDPAU has not arrived in Debian testing yet, for the open source ATI drivers. So perhaps it will work better when that happens...

Re: remember keyboard layout for individual windows KDE

System settings->input devices->keyboard->layouts and you will find the setting (i think)you need. But it will not remember it for ever. It will simply allow you to change the keyboard layout individually for each application or window. So when you change the layout for one application, the change w...

Re: UP 2013.11.06 09:00 UTC [PRODUCTION]

The update went fine, but there were some glitches. I saw the new version of the updatemanager. There was no other update visible. But when i tried to perform the update, some other packages were updated instead! ( libc6 and slibegl1-mesa-drivers i think) After that, i had to use dpkg --configure -a...

Re: For KDE users: Animated DreamDesktop

It is pretty CPU intensive unfortunately. http://www.jarzebski.pl/projekty/dreamdesktop.html I tried something like that with a-desk about a year ago, not in SolydXK, and my CPU usage was around 15% at 720p, more for a 1080p video. I am waiting to see what will happen when mesa 9.2 drivers arrive, w...

Re: Update Manager crashes or freezes

I tried the new iso today. ( i post this using the live CD.) It takes anything from 5 to 20 minutes for the gui to appear after i launch updatemanager. When i try to hit the 'check mirrors speed' button, it crashes.

I attach the text file with all the information i get from the terminal.

Re: Update Manager crashes or freezes

Sorry, i have just returned home, so i could not test the new version until now. I just installed update manager 2.9 It still freezes when i hit the 'check mirrors speed' button, as before. However, i can choose a different mirror now without crashing, which i could not do before. I do not get any m...
