Re: SolydXK 9 (stretch) alpha build testing

I found that if I start a kdesudo application with HOME=$HOME before the command the application behaves as expected. Doing so will revert root's homedir back to the user's homedir and this will definitely end up with root-owned files in your personal homedir, as I could easily prove on my system. ...

Re: SolydXK 9 (stretch) alpha build testing

It's a workaround, of course. It should be handled by kdesudo but it doesn't. I was just wondering: should this be considered a workaround? I believe kdesudo/gksudo are making sure that configuration settings for an application run as root are read from and written to *root*'s homedir and not the o...

Re: Hover over Images

What you are referring to is probably: in Dolphin -> Settings (use Ctrl-M to show the menu first if necessary) -> Configure Dolphin -> General tile -> Behaviour tab -> check Show Tooltips. Looks pretty good as well, although what I personally do not like about this is that it covers the file list it...

Re: Update – getting ready for Stretch

Just informational: The upgrade from solydk-system-adjustments to solydk-system-adjustments-8 (for stable SolydK, in my case) may show some mild impact for existing users .kde profiles in terms of themery (new users are not affected): The K-icon of the Launcher has moved: @ ~/.kde/share/config/plasm...

While updating solydk-system-adjustments from the previous nightly I get this: root@bashostv:/ #>>> apt-get -y install solydk-system-adjustments solydk-info Pakketlijsten worden ingelezen... Re: XK Colors Abstract Wallpapers

I'm not an expert on graphics but these wallpapers look absolutely stunning to me: they have an amazing attractiveness and depth to them. Couple of suggestions: maybe the layers are a bit too predominant: what happens if you start the upper layer with the same color as the one surrounding the K/X in...

Re: Hover over Images

I'm not exactly sure about your context, but perhaps you are working with Dolphin in SoyldK and you accidently disabled the Information panel? You can toggle this panel on/off using F11. If not, please provide some more details.

Sorry to detect this áfter release of the ISO's, but it seems to me that plymouth-manager is not working correctly: solydxk@solydxk:~$ debian-plymouth-manager Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/debian-plymouth-manager/main.py", line 6, in <module> from dpm import DPM File "/usr/lib/de...

Re: ISO testing 201701

I just noticed that "yelp, the Help browser for Gnome" is installed by default in the RC ISO SoyldK 64. Is that a deliberate choice? I always try to keep this one off the KDE lane, but it has a tendency to pop up as 'recommendation' for all sorts of packages ;) EDIT: I see it was in solydk_8_64_2016...

Re: ISO testing 201701

Let me know if this (fstab) is alright or not. Looks perfect to me! I haven't added apache2, mysql and mpd. It doesn't hurt to add them even though these are not installed by default. Should I? No, I would say to not progressively add subdirectories here for not-installed services. You'd get a whol...

Re: ISO testing 201701

I see the /var/log/clamav is indeed created on boot (how?), but apparently it comes just too late in time, since: root@bashost:/var/log/clamav #>>> systemctl status clamav-daemon.service clamav-freshclam.service * clamav-daemon.service - Clam AntiVirus userspace daemon Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/s...

Re: ISO testing 201701

I did a whole bunch of testing on the new RC ISO this afternoon. And did not find anything at fault for my environment or use. Plain solyd it is :!: Just one item for possible improvement: Resulting from https://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=6277&hilit=fstab and https://forums.solydxk.com/...

Re: Hello

Hi Martinst, Welcome to our Solyd forum! I have a history with Mainframes as well, that's fun. What triggers me is that you mention a SolydX-based home-entertainment system. Last year I developed 'steamer software' for a project together with my audio-dealer. Unfortunately, the project was not conti...

Make update during installation optional?

I would like to drop a suggestion for the Installer: With the latest releases of the Installer, it automatically updates the installed system to a current state as part of the installation process (probably just an apt-get update + dist-upgrade). Although I acknowledge the advantage of doing this by...

Re: ISO testing 201606

I did an installation of the RC in a VB this weekend, ran all my post-installation and configuration scripts, tested all (ok: most) applications and functionality that I typically use. While doing so I did not encounter any issue. As for me, it's a GO !

Re: Kodi Won't Run

Ilu was merely recommending EE users reading this topic to use the standard/generic Radeon drivers instead of the Fglrx drivers. Which in fact - if I understand correctly - confirms that the solution Jeff picked for this Kodi issue by switching to the generic driver is not just a quick workaround b...
