Re: New ISOs in ce/testing

Just started the upload of six newly built CE ISOs. They should appear in http://downloads.solydxk.nl/ce/testing/ some time tonight. I expect them all to be available after midnight CEST (22:00 UTC). Downloaded the 64 bit version of the above, booted the iso in virtualbox no problem (choosing the v...

Re: Breakages and News tracking Debian Testing

I have heard of SparkyLinux. In fact I've been running it a vm for the past nine months, it tracks Debian testing and has not broken yet. If SolydXK ever goes away, I'm going to move to Sparky.

Re: MEPIS Refugee now in the SolydK fold

Uncle Mark, Welcome to the SolydXK community! I use Solydx 64 and have found the users, moderators and the founder of Solydxk to be extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and just downright friendly. I test other distro's in Virtualbox VM's just to keep up on what is going on in the Linux world. There ar...

Re: SSD and SolydX 64

Schoelje,

Glad you like these tips. I am not sure how to make this topic a sticky or where to move it. Would you be kind enough to do this?

Re: SSD and SolydX 64

I also added this to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub:

elevator=deadline

This changes the scheduler from default cfq to deadline, or you can also choose noop instead of deadline.

SSD and SolydXK

I just installed a Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB SSD in my system and all I can say is (#$%^^$ WOW!!! My system now boots to my SolydX 64 desktop from the grub menu (when I press enter) in 6 seconds. I just want to say to all the SolydXK users that if your HD is starting to show its age or you are running ...

Are you running this in a VM? If so that is the way plymouth works in a VM.

Re: [Talk] Home Edition security updates

Grizzler....you are correct in that unchecking the box allows the daemon to run. That was the issue I was having, in that the updated libssl1.0.1j-1 for some reason broken the connection to the daemon (deluged). I had been running it that way for a long time......but it appears that running deluge i...

Re: [Talk] Home Edition security updates

Grizzler...I'm glad to report the issue is resolved on my pc. Somehow or other in the preference menu under item "Interface" the Classic mode was unchecked. Once I checked that box and restarted deluge...it works fine with the libssl1 update in place.

I learn something everyday.

Re: [Talk] Home Edition security updates

Grizzler...I installed in a VM the Solydx 32 bit from a 102014 iso and updated it with the latest libssl1 file and deluge worked. I'm gonna install SolydX 64 bit from iso 102014 on my production machine (I have a clonezilla backup) and see what happens. My production machine is from the 072014 iso a...

Re: [Talk] Home Edition security updates

Grizzler....this is bizarre to say the least. If I stay at libssl1.0.1i2 deluge works. If I upgrade to libssl1.0.1j2 it cannot connect. Like I said I'm going to try a 32bit SolydX and see if it breaks also.

Re: [Talk] Home Edition security updates

Sorry about the short reply above. Hit the submit key without thinking clearly. If you close deluge and shutdown the daemon, when deluge restarts it cannot connect to the local host at 127.0.0.1: (random port number).
