Re: [POLL] Responsive theme for these forums

Sorry Schoelje, I will look at Metro a bit later. I've encountered some (unexpected) problems with DDM 2.1.0 for Nvidia, so right now I'm trying to compose a clear post about it. Don't worry, nothing serious, most errors were on my side. But still, there's one little inconvenience (looks like a regr...

Re: [POLL] Responsive theme for these forums

I must be doing something wrong... It is not important what fonts SolydXK uses in System Settings. Those that count are Firefox's fonts. Firefox should be set to: Preferences --> Content --> Fonts & Color --> Advanced... --> Fonts for: Latin Proportional --> Sans Serif Serif: Ubuntu Condensed (but ...

Re: [POLL] Responsive theme for these forums

I've installed SolydX with the J apanese localization... SolydK is installed with Ireland (English) localization here, and uses en-IE UTF-8 system locale. There are no other national adjustments, besides English (UK), English (US), Italian, Russian and Finnish keyboard layouts. Plus, some fonts tha...

Re: [POLL] Responsive theme for these forums

Huh... It's the TTF font called Russia. I'm using it from the stone age, and don't remeber from where I've got it. It has both standard Latin and Cyrillic characters, is UTF-8 encoded, and 99% of English characters from other standard fonts have the same codes in it. So in most cases there's no prob...

...No icons at all, messed up menues. On Qupzilla there are icons but whenever my mouse hovers over the menu a big grey area covers the whole screen which is even worse... it's a common problem with many modern mobile-zed themes and devices that use non-Latin character sets. the theme doesn't use r...

Re: [POLL] Responsive theme for these forums

the current "classic" theme has enormous advantage for non-English users. we may use any fonts we want, with national and English characters, without loosing the forum's icons and/or information. here's how BBOOTS correctly looks with a standard - almost never used - English fonts only: http://img.c...

Re: [POLL] Responsive theme for these forums

please, forgive me for the disproportionally exagerated tone of the previous post. i believe it will be difficult to find a theme suitable for all modern mobile devices. because they vary in size on a too large scale - from 4..5 to 8..10 inches, from phones to tablets. the same sites i can't read on...

Re: [POLL] Responsive theme for these forums

no, no, no! the current theme reflects SolydXK's traditionnal style, works very good and is perfectly functional. like those of LinuxMint, that doesn't change for ages. it was a shock when traditional SolydXK icons were replaced by flat highly-coloured Evolvere ones. would you like the forum to rese...

I just uploaded the new ISOs (with the latest Software Manager and Flash): http://downloads.solydxk.nl/nightly/ If everybody agrees these will be the release ISOs... houston, we have a problem. for the first time, starting from 2015-01, the installation of a nightly ( solydk64_201505.iso ) finishes...

Makulu borrows

I didn't know that Makulu Linux borrows from SolydXK some packages. 3 hours ago they uploaded in their repos a bunch of new packages. Among them: ddm_2.0.9_all.deb lightdm-manager_0.7.1_all.deb updatemanager_2.6.5_all.deb All three have exactly the same names and version numbers as in SolydXK. Didn'...

that's true. while the solydxk-softwaremanger 7.6.6 was executed without a problem, 7.6.7 refuses to run, even from root's account: # solydxk-softwaremanager sh: 1: /usr/lib/solydxk/softwaremanager/softwaremanager.py: Permission denied # that's because the file /usr/lib/solydxk/softwaremanager/softw...

Re: Trying SolydK: Firefox and Flash update problems

To me, it suggests to download, check, burn, install and use the distro directly from SolydXK site. Should something go wrong, I'll blame myself, not the rest of the world.
