Re: Plank: A very lightweight Dock for SolydXK

Thanks ZZ, that did the trick. Plank (6.1 Development release) is up and running. :)

Re: Plank: A very lightweight Dock for SolydXK

Before finding this thread, I was experimenting last night with compiling from the Plank PPA : In order to compile, I need an updated version of Valac: Unmet build dependencies: valac (>= 0.24.0) I could install Valac straight from here , but then I get the following: dpkg: dependency problems preve...

Re: How to turn my SolyX to SolydK

Since we're on the topic. Is installing Solydx in Solydk (the reverse) simply a matter of:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install xfce4

Yes, I agree completely. On whatever system I've used it, the 93% that actually works is unbeatably stable and secure.

Re: [Solved]Update LibreOffice repositories SolydXK

I may be not understand something but I thought the point of SolydXK was stability, reliability and security. If people want cutting edge there are plenty of Distro's that offer that. Well, actually, I'm using WobblyXK. It's the less stable, reliable and secure version. You should try it, though it...

Re: [Solved]Update LibreOffice repositories SolydXK

FYI: I always install the bleeding edge version of LibreOffice. The oft repeated warning that the bleeding edge is buggier than the "stable" version should be taken with a grain of salt. In my experience, the stable version is full of bugs and limitations and the bleeding edge version, in truth, is ...

Re: solydk-system-adjustments exits with error code 1

I'm not sure how all this sugared off. I still get the error every time I run synaptic or install software. Are we just ignoring it until the update makes it into the repository? Should I delete? Is there a fix I should be installing? Just wondering.

Re: KDE 5

Sweet. But the thing I don't get is this: Why do these themes ignore buttons like "keep above others" or "keep below others"? I use the former all the time. It's a real drag having to tree through the sub-menu to merely keep a window above the others.

Re: Any Thunderbird experts? Opening PDFs with xpdf....

Okay, solved this one myself. =)

Thunderbird --> Preferences --> Attachments Tab --> Click on PDF Document (if there) --> Click on Action (Right Column)

XPDF, on my system, is installed here:

/etc/X11/Xresources/xpdf

Any Thunderbird experts? Opening PDFs with xpdf.... [Solved]

Hi, just thought I'd ask here while I also Google a solution. For some reason, all Linux PDF software -- Adobe, Okular, Evince, etc... -- have trouble printing to my Brother laser printer. I've noticed however, during searches, that others have reported the same problems with other brands. Sometimes...

Thank you so much for the list rokytnji. If I critique something you've sent me, it's not meant to discourage the effort you've made. :) Just thinking aloud. I'm going to go check out every link you've forwarded.

Re: Use XFCE-Panel in KDE

Update: I put in Boston, still no radar. I then put in Berlin, Germany, city of my childhood, and got a radar image. So, seems to be some kind of bug or limitation having to do with YAWP?

Got this Monster in my Email Today. Cheaper than what you have been looking at at Best Buy. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314491 Thanks for this. Do send more if you see stuff like this. But I looked at it. Many of the specs are quite good. They had to cut a corner somewh...

Yeah, thanks zerozero. I compiled the installer. Installed popcorn-time and tried it. Was just curious. Won't be using it though. I'll wait and see how the legal issues sugar off. 8-)

Re: My Laptop Just Croaked... I think

Yeah, those are good suggestions but in this case I can eliminate the display as the problem. There's simply no power: i.e. no lights, no "power on" lights, no sign of life. NADA. That makes me about 90% sure that the problem is the power supply -- not the adapter but the internal power supply. It w...

Re: My Laptop Just Croaked... I think

Okay. Update. I picked up a little DYNEX case for the hard drive. Everything thing is there and intact, but it's a bit like looking at the computer's brain in a glass jar. I dropped by Staples and Best Buy. The selection of laptops at Staples was pretty poor -- anemic really. Makes me think ...

Re: Use XFCE-Panel in KDE

I've got those checked but I'm not getting a radar map, just a blank space where it should be. What weather service are you using?
