SolydXK 10 point release 10.4

Postby Arjen Balfoort » 05 Jul 2020 13:00

The SolydXK Team has worked long and hard to create the next point release based on Debian Buster.

Highlights
  • Based on Debian Buster 10.4 release with the latest kernel version 4.19.
  • usr directories have been merged where the /{bin,sbin,lib}/ directories become symbolic links to /usr/{bin,sbin,lib}/.
More info on the subject: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Softwar ... heUsrMerge
  • Many bugs were resolved and we changed the SolydXK Firefox settings even further to improve user privacy. This is done in the firefox-solydxk-adjustments package which can be purged if you don't need it.
Enthusiast's Editions
Work is still done on the Enthusiast's Editions. They will be released at a later date.

Downloads
You can download the ISOs from our community site: https://solydxk.com/downloads

Do not forget to verify your download before you use it.

Enjoy this new point release!

This morning I checked the downloads and thought I'd share the statistics with you.

solydx
Today: 4815
Yesterday: 831
Total: 94802

solydk
Today: 20823
Yesterday: 805
Total: 88763

Yesterday = Sunday June 5 2020, day of release.

I was surprised by the number of downloads for SolydK. I haven't seen numbers like these since we moved to Debian stable and usually SolydX is more popular.

New here... Was Xubuntu-user for years but I'm all over now! Super release, Solydx runs fabulous on my 12 y old desktop pc with 4gb. Best Debian flavour ever and as I'm living in The Netherlands: great Orange eyecandy! Keep up the good work!

This will take some (more) time, for a number of reasons, one of which is I can't get the ISOs to run in a VM...

More details will be provided later/elsewhere.

P.S. The new stable ISOs don't run in that VM either...

When that happens I need to delete that instance from VB, including all files and create a new instance.
