The new iso's are out!

Postby Arjen Balfoort » 23 Aug 2013 08:39

We just released the 201308 iso's.

You can read the blog here: http://solydxk.nl/the-new-isos-are-out

[EDIT]
And Distrowatch already picked it up: http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=08019

[EDIT2]
Within 1 hour, the number of downloads rose above 250 downloads (we usually have between 50 and 100 downloads per day). The server is totally overrun, and the main site is very hard to connect to.
There's not much I can do about it, I'm afraid. We'll have to sit this one out.

It seems the server is being hit hard, and you might get a time-out on the main site.

You can still download the iso's here:
http://downloads.solydxk.nl

Congrats on the new iso.
It's really a great distro. I will put on the big boy pants and sort out the ATI issues on the laptop.
I'm currently running it on my 2 desktops 1, tracking SID, the other out of the box.

Didn't AOL experience this when they went to the "All you can eat" model for 1 price/month ;)
It's a good sign isn't it?

Just started the new torrents.

May I make a name suggestion? The torrents are named latest, why not use the date as a name? For example solydx32-20130622.torrent

Btw, I really love this distribution

Image

desktop : Debian stable
EeePC900 : SolydX / LMDE / Debian stable
EeePC1215 : Win7 / Debian stable

That's because other sites/blogs only have to link to the latest iso's without being worried that they would end up with dead links with each new iso. Another plus is, that I never have to change the product pages links, which is another thing less to maintain. The product page shows the current version, and if you really want the iso to show the version, you can still download the iso's from their respective sub-directories here: http://downloads.solydxk.nl

You are the victim of your own success.

As for the server issue - I've just done what I can (for now anyway) - donated.

The severs are getting hammered. Keep trying. You'll eventually get connected. Read the rest of this thread for some idea of how things are going. Or, use a torrent it'll probably be faster anyway.

That multi-dvd iso is 6.5 GB!
That won't fit on a standard 4.7 GB DVD.
What do I need, a dual layer DVD?

I am currently seeding the multi-dvd iso, uploaded over 5GB so far. I am downloading the other new XK torrents and will seed them as well.

I would like to track the changes in SolydX without reinstalling. Are the instructions laid out in the following posts still current?

1) Replace Wicd with NM

http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=855#p8885

2) Install Whisker Menu

http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=827&p=8643

Following the forums every now and then, I saw that Blueman was removed from the SolydX iso at some point. Are there any other key changes that I've missed since the transition from LMDE XFCE unofficial?

Apart from the regular monthly updates, these two packages were added:
gtkhash
unrar
In addition there were several configuration changes per UP, but now that you missed some, I can't predict which ones are still necessary, and which ones aren't.
I recommend you create a new topic for each issue you cannot solve.

Good luck!

That's great!

By the way, looking at distrowatch's image I wonder how can I upgrade my machines without re-installing to get all the new things, art, etc. Is there a way? apt-get dist-upgrade ?

Keep the good work and everybody let's click once a day to make SolydXK climb the popularity chart at Distrowatch!

If you mean the changes in SolydX:

GeneC has written a tutorial for Whisker menu:
http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=827

And here I wrote about replacing Wicd with Network Manager:

Mmm, on a second thought, I rather stick to the official packages and all.

One question, wicd is going to be removed, and the installed manager would be NM?
