the substitution of wicd by n-m is only effective in the 201308 isos (and beyond); the existing installed systems won't be affected.

You can still download the iso's here:
http://downloads.solydxk.nl

That multi-dvd iso is 6.5 GB!
That won't fit on a standard 4.7 GB DVD.
What do I need, a dual layer DVD?
..or a USB flash drive.
just an idea, to split the dvd into 32bit and 64bit version?
- solydk64
- debian testing

And here I wrote about replacing Wicd with Network Manager:

Mmm, on a second thought, I rather stick to the official packages and all.

One question, wicd is going to be removed, and the installed manager would be NM?
That is correct.

In addition there were several configuration changes per UP, but now that you missed some, I can't predict which ones are still necessary, and which ones aren't.
I recommend you create a new topic for each issue you cannot solve.

Good luck!
Thanks, so far so good. Enjoying mobile broadband now!

Hi funnynickname, and welcome to our forum!
Thanks for the Kad mirror.
Being so busy getting the torrents to work, I totally forgot about that.

Tried the new Solydx in my Vmware Workstation 10 to see whether the Vmware Tools problem was still in existence, however after install I could not get the system to automount the tools cd/dvd, could not find any references to the relevant files so I reluctantly had to delete the vm. Still have a Solydx on a spare computer but vm's are my mainstay so it doesn't get much use. Running Lububtu 12.04 and LXLE vm's.

I have installed SolydX 32 again in a machine that had video problems. But now (having the new network manager instead of wicd) the machine does not connect.
I'm thinking 2 approaches: 1) downloading wicd files (damn tar.gz instead of deb files), and 2) changing "Debian's" connection settings in the terminal, editing some file.
Any help, suggestions, ... anything!?
Thank you.

Hello

same to me after installing new distro no success to web
that solve my problem ... look at this thread
http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=652

or follow these directly:
sudo nano /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf
change the line managed=false to managed=true
Save, stop and start network manager:
sudo service network-manager restart

hope that helps - may be in new to come distro it will be included

Thank you, Hirdel. I was looking for something like the 2nd option.
I have configured it clicking on the icon in the task bar, but no connection, no update (so no Synaptic to (un)install something else). That's why I was wondering what file to edit "old school" way.
I'll try this tomorrow, at the university. I hope it works.
Otherwise, I'm installing an older version that still had Wicd (thanks Zerozero for the idea and link).
