is there a difference between apt and aptitude?
Thinking that synaptic (used in UM) uses one of the two?

Oh, I see, I see. I hadn't realized that the available versions were the same that were already installed in my computer. I guess that I should have checked that before posting :S .

That behaviour of APT is really curious. It's good to be aware about that issue to avoid more confusion in the future.

So let's "update" with the no-update, he he he ;) .

Thank you both for the help!!!

Guys, I've been experiencing with some new installations of SolydX and have to say that IMHO the new connection manager is worst than the old WICD, and that the new menu is less intuitive.

I had big trouble trying to connect to both wired and wireless machines and have decided to go for a previous ISO to install SolydX 32 with WICD and then upgrade.

Just an opinion... or are there more like me out there?

These mirrors are synchronized, and you can use them to update your system:
  • NLUUG
  • Tuxlinuxnews
Unfortunately, Internode has done a partial synchronization where the packages repository is up-to-date, but the Debian repository still hasn’t been synchronized since the August Update Pack.
Has this been resolved yet?

I wrote an e-mail on the 7th to Internode following up my earlier ticket and have not had a reply from them although I notice the last update on their mirror was dated 8th October. Does that mean it is now OK to use their mirror?

If not, can someone please advise me exactly what Internode need to do to synchronise their mirror so that I can escalate this issue to management.

Internode seems to finally have synchronized. So, you could use them. However, I'd prefer to wait and see what happens with the next UP before making it official: "use at own risk".
