UP 2013.12.06 [PRODUCTION] [DONE]

Posted: 06 Dec 2013 15:16
by Arjen Balfoort
[Important - 07 Dec 2013]

I've updated solydxk-system.
This will rename /etc/apt/preferences if it hasn't been modified by the user.
After this, more updates will be available.

=======================
Ladies and gentlemen,

Those who haven’t upgraded from the testing repositories, and depending on whether you’re a SolydX or SolydK user you will have between 200MB and 750MB of packages to download.

You might have a slow download if people upgrade at the same time. Try again at a later date or time.
Now that the main site, and forum are running on a separate server, they should be available at all time.

If you encounter any problems, post your findings in this topic.

This time no ISO's.

Below you see the information shown by the "Update Pack Info" button in the Update Manager after the repository synchronization.

Please carefully read the info page below.

First issue on my main system: Skype is being removed

I'll just leave it remove Skype, and try to reinstall after the update.

I'll post back with the results.

[EDIT]
After the upgrade, I wanted to install Skype again, but not needed:

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get install skype
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
skype:i386 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
...weird glitch...

I just wanted to let everyone know that I ran the update on my main systemd system without issues. Everything is working great:

As an FYI though: I did get a couple of minor errors on one of my vm sessions. It looks like there's a couple of conflict packages in the update if you have the owncloud client installed from the OpenSUSE site. Unfortunately I wasn't able to capture them....

After the latest updates today, System Settings crashes when opening Workspace Appearance. The kwin theme options are being rendered when it segfaults.

I noticed I'd forgotten to install dekorator this time. Went to install it in Synaptic and had this notice:

To be removed:

- kde-plasma-desktop
- kde-window-manager
- kde-workspace

...Um, I don't think that would be good. :(

Cancelled of course.

dekorator is broken for some time (it was before this UP)
your first error message points clearly to bespin; now the question: do you had installed from the repos or built locally? and if built locally was it with make install?

bespin was from the repos.

Should that dekorator package be there? What if someone doesn't cancel at that notice?

kwindecoration still crashes. I removed Crystal as well. It still crashes. This was the output:

only thing i can think of is: was the upgrade fully successful?
what is the output of

Code: Select all

apt dist-upgrade
and share your sources.list as well

Code: Select all

inxi -r

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade you mean? This:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
libkdecorations4abi50 libkwineffects1abi50 libkwinglutils1abi50 libplasmaclock4abi50 libx264-138
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

inxi -r output:

Repos: Active apt sources in file: /etc/apt/sources.list

Well,

The upgrade, using Update Manager, was a success. :D

Txs for this great distro (SolidK) ...and keep up the good work.

I also get the glitch that UP wants to remove Skype, but it also wants to remove pipelight.

Is correct that UP ONLY indicating it wants to remove the packages, but it actually does not uninstall anything? Have not dared to run the update yet.
